Whereas Israel has excellent technology and infrastructure, in Gaza people carry goods by horse and cart. Whereas Israel has an educational system second to none, next to it live children who are denied even a basic education because their schools have been bombed.”

The blockade in Gaza has destroyed public service infrastructure and hospitals have power cuts for 12 hours a day, emergency medical treatment for residents of Gaza is denied, and 40m litres of sewage is being discharged every day into the sea because of lack of fuel to pump or treat human waste.

These are words taken from the Archbishop of Wales. The boat that has just left is full of Israelis who agree the situation is untenable.

The only person who is sad and misguided here is you pugwash.

Goonerboy if you were living in Israel and were having missiles launched from Gaza into your homes etc. I think you may have a different view. The Palestinians can't even agree between themselves.

Matula compare the number of deaths in Israel with the number of people Israel killed when they used the same excuse to attack Gaza and stop talking rubbish. If Israel had an ounce of sense they would let the Palestinian set up their country in the occupied lands. If this does not happen, in 20 years Arabs will out number the Jews in Israel and then god help them cause no body else will. Especially when the oil runs out.

"Irene passenger Rami Elhanan, an Israeli whose daughter Smadar was killed in a suicide bombing at a shopping mall in Jerusalem in 1997, said it was his "moral duty" to act in support of Palestinians in Gaza because reconciliation was the surest path to peace"

This quote made by Rami Elhanan who lost a child to a suicide bomber says it all. Al those who support Israel's actions or think that the actions of these activists are misguided, are in need of some help.

Come again. Is that some sort of counter argument?

You will find many people in the north and south of the island who think like Rami. It is only the misguided fools who think that they can win by war. You will find may such people especially in that other forum further south. They are 2 to a penny there.

I note that a comparison is always made between the amount of casualties caused on both sides i.e. the Israelis kill more Palestinians than vice versa so they must be the bad guys. Whilst the amount of casualties is very sad, in reality they don't come into the equation, it is a question of intent. IF Hamas had better rockets then more Israelis would have been killed. IF the blockade was lifted then Hamas would have better weaponry and more Israelis would die, is this what everyone wants.

Whilst there are many other facets to the dispute, I believe that if Hamas were to stop firing rockets and were to 'recognise' the state of Israel then there would be a significantly better chance of peace being brought to this corner of the world. Don't get me wrong, Israel has its' part to play but whilst they are living under the threat of indiscriminate rocket attacks then I fear nothing will change.

Just my opinion of course.

The militants (elected politicians) that run Gaza have three objectives which are,

1. The destruction of Israel

2. The destruction of Israel....sorry forgotten the third.

The last thing they want is peace.
