This forum used to be a great place to have a chat and laugh, share information and generally get to meet some really nice people.



Unfortunately recently there is a certain faction who are hell bent on dragging people down that only try to do good. They are accused of illegally working. extortion etc.............



We only have one life lets live it in peace. Let's go back to the days when Cyprus 44 was information and mostly fun!

Personally i think it's a case of weak moderating .You can get away with almost anything on here . Hits means money so they let the threads go on because there are plenty of them . It's all down to business , not folks feelings . You are right Chris , this used to be a great forum but money has taken over the rules . In fact there are no rules , apart from making multiple postings !!! You can accuse someone of murder, wife beating, wrecking your apartment , beating up their partner in a bar , but don't you dare multi post !!! Even if you answer a post about directions to a bar , someone will bite yer head off ......crazy !!

I was recently banned for losing it with Sal 1262, fair enough, I lost my rag so paid the price, but some of the troublemakers, slanderers and just plain lowlifes on here of late will drive anyone over the edge.

The mods really must go all out to stop these post before the board completely goes under, it used to be a fun place with the likes of Wyn, Turtle, Newlad etc, now what have we got, not a lot !!!!!

I used to be a moderator. Then I was quiet on the Forum for a while whilst going through a marriage separation. Then when I came back, I was no longer a Moderator and no explanation given. We are only ralking about 6 months here.



So, I am still here, and an active Cyprus44 member. I have a home in Alsancak, live in the UK but love the TRNC. So, what was all that about?



Strangely enough, I am probably more involved with the workings of the TRNC now than I was ever before!

Let it go on another forty or fifty postings then we will look at it again . It's too late then the insults ,slander etc has already been dished out . Take the washerman/ Mark thread . Why was it allowed to carry on as far as it got ?? And yet somebody posted about something that had already been covered and you closed it !! .Very quick to do that but when some serious insults are being handed out you are nowhere to be seen . And I would like to add that I do not moderate full time because unlike some others on here that just want to cause trouble, I have a life. Until members begin to understand that Forum Admin are part time and carry out their duties 'as and when' they can then you will realise what is going on. You chastise me for not closing down the 6m's/washerman threads well I did when I came back into my study and read what was going on. But I got a lot of grief from certain other members for doing so but there were at least 6 threads that had descended into nothing more than a spat between two businesses. I suggest you get real Arry and try to understand the way this board works.

Not exactly true.... I wasn't posting as a business - I was posting as someone who wanted to make sure that Dopi clients didn't get taken twice.. by a business 'claiming' an 'official dealer status' - when that isn't the case.



I only ended up offering to sell the same thing - when the other poster got 'personal'.

Because the protagonists on Cyprus44 can't help themselves. Some people's dander is up the minute their esteem is questioned or more correctly their self-perceived esteem is under discussion.



You will never stop people getting wound up and, if the moderators tried this impossible task, it would be so heavy handed we'd never be allowed to discuss anything other than 'how lovely' such and such a restaurant is...



Strong views make for a lively debate, strong views also polarize factions - it's a fact of life. Cyprus44 ought to be cross-section of society and represent all flavours of opinion. Some of those opinions others will find abhorrent - that's life.



However, the constant need of some posters to personalise remarks and discussions is lamentable and the rules I believe empower the mods to edit threads which clearly fall below this threshold of acceptability.

You are wrong I am afraid. I too am disappointed by the quality of some posts at the moment. However it appears that there is a surfeit of posters with too much time on their hands and too many grudges. Whilst this is a pain for the majiority of people they are not breaking rules. Consistently breaking riules is what gets people suspended from posting not just being childish and stupid.

Having just read tamands reaction on the glencoe forum to his use of a Northeast & Scots slang word for a moustache, I can understand his astonishment at the furore caused, it also intrigues me how someone would know the urban slang attributed to 'one' (yes1) poster to the 'urban slang dictionary' out of a sum total of two postings, the first being 'a tree humper' whatever that may be, how on earth did you know that Sienna ? or were you unsure of the word and just googled it and picked the one of the two versions of the definition that was the biggest insult and decide to make mountains out of molehills again, I am sure, by the way tamand has spoken on the other board, that he had absolutely no idea of the 'urban slang' meaning of it when used.
