Hi George

After about 2 years I am at last ready to download some free TV channels to my PC. Ive been reading your postings and followed the one dated 10 June 2010 and although everything downloaded fine and the little TV screen was on my desktop only 1 channel seemed to open. The others said will not open.

Can you give me an update on whats new.

Thanks.

Hi Babrew,

Most of the UK TV applications are not working now. :( However I have a little Gem here for you...

http://wireless.host-ed.net/

Download version 1.0.5 VLC media player using the link provided on the Home page otherwise it won't let you go full screen (and you must tick the 'Mozilla plugin' option during installation). If you have another version of VLC player already on your PC you will need to completely delete this and maybe even remove the remaining files from 'program files'.

There are various links on this site that open in VLC, WMP and flash - start with the main link in the middle of the homepage - ENTERTAINMENT. Then click on the channel that you want. The main channels open in VLC and there are others that say 'flash' which obviously open in flash.

On the left hand side there's also more links for various countries including the UK - the UK ones here open in WMP as well.

Sometimes channels can work for months - somethimes just days!

ENJOY

I have just checked BBC1 and ITV and both are working in VLC player - allow a minute for the channel to appear and you will need a good internet connection.

Hi St George, where do I find the link on the VLC homepage to version 1.0.5 please. I have v. 1.1.4 so I presume I need to uninstall this and replace it with the earlier version? Just need to know where to find it please?

I'm going to kick myself I know

satranc, just in case StG1 isn't around. Go to the page in the link in message 2.

Live Online Television

At the top you will see this:

Click a category from the list below to expand a list of available channels.

NOTE: VLC Player WITH Mozilla Plugin is required to view the majority of the streams. Full screen works in version 1.05 of the VLC Player. Many newer versions do not support our implementation of full screen. Therefore, install VLC Player 1.05 and make sure you check the option to install the Mozilla Plugin during installation.

When you go to download it, it should tell you it needs to uninstall other versions and when you click OK it will do that and during the installation you should get a pop up box that requires the ticking of the mozilla box.

Then after it is all installed you can select the channels, if you have a fast connection that is, some are allready blocked but.

thanks Proger - seems like you've answered it all for me.

The guy that runs this site lives in Germany and set it up for people like us that crave a bit of UK TV. He is constantly updating his links which can run for months or just days.

And the end of the day it's FREE and all down to the hard work of a normal guy who likes to help out... so enjoy them when they are up, and if they're down thenkeep going back until they work again. I have to say that due to his hard work they are generally working more than they are down.

Have fun,

G

St George, when I click on the "wireless.host-ed.net" link all I get is a web page about web hosting that starts with:-

"Do I need web hosting?

If you want to be a part of the Internet space as a business company, information resource, directory, or as a person wanting to share data, information and knowledge about various kind of stuff with all people and communities on the Internet, you have to make a website and post it on the Internet."

There doesn't appear to be an "Entertainment" link or any mention of TV channels. Any ideas?

Yesterday it would not find the website at all, this morning all I get is the same as you have stated above, a page that takes you nowhere.

Odd isnt it!

Unfortunately the English guy who ran this site, from Germany, has been hit with law suits and fines from corporate arseholes: you can read about it here - his name is CTL2:
