Just a thought, CarrieRBag, but would it be worth making the Home Buyers' Pressure Group aware of this? Marion has a large database and could collate cases. Strength in numbers?

Something is not right here, how can he offer you the deeds if there is a mortgage on the land? This will show up at the Tapu office when you go to lodge your title deeds and be refused. The butlers wife

He lifts the mortgage when he gives us the Deeds or obviously we wouldn't be able to get the Deeds. He will just transfer it to some other unsuspecting soul. We checked there was no mortgage on the land and initially there was so our solicitor told us not to proceed. He lifted the mortgage and so we proceeded. Then, the day he gave us the keys, he slaps the mortgage back on! Msg 11, you are correct. HBPG is being made aware as I type and I believe a meeting is in the offing. Our solicitor (good one for a change having sacked the previous one!) says that if we take him to court we will be paying more on court costs than his taxes. Will let you know the outcome of the HBPG meeting if it happens. Thanks all.

As worthy and admirable as 'candlelight vigils' are, what the Hell's the point of holding them when you have so many of the likes of this wealthy man's [alleged] activities to contend with, coupled with a government who clearly 'have the bit between their teeth' as regards their opposition to making any beneficial change?

He has been refusing to pay his taxes for many years now. The tax office don't care, as long as they are paid by someone, namely the buyer.
