Tomorrow,I will have been here for 2 years !!!!and holiday home previous 10 years.

I have loved every minute, cultivating the garden, meeting really good friends...yes,we are not all doom

and gloom!!!!

I now have a lovely cat,and cuddly puppy.all giving so much love.

Occasional visitors from Slavic countries, and fantastic breaks to Istanbul.

This is the nearest to Heaven I can find on Earth.

A bit OTT, Glynn.... everybody knows that the TRNC has issues, but many people believe that, even so, it is a great place to live.... warts and all. Mike has a lovely home, friends and lifestyle and is merely commenting on how content he feels after two years. It is good to have some positive feedback about life here, even if you do think it is unrealistic.

I don't think any prospective reading this board could possibly miss the fact that many people have had a variety of problems ... some costing them their life savings. However, there are some fortunates who love every minute of the time they spend here. Mike was expressing his pleasure in reaching his second anniversary here and finding it akin to heaven.

Sloan

We need to keep the "prospectives" in mind, most sales go wrong so why not say that and save decent people problems?

Or are you trying to sell??

Glynn, and a name like yours you should support me.You seem to have a problem and not happy here.

This is not a British resort with sunshine.Have you mixed with the local people, are you taking Turkish lessons?I am doing that and learning Tavla....Just don.t be so pessimistic....go outside, enjoy the stars.

Could you do that in UK every night?

My lovely Bonds,Cari ti loads....you will be here for ever!!!!

Well done mike. Happy for you. Ignore the miserable sods who are always complaining, don't let them get you down, I know I don't. If they're so unhappy here then why not go back home.

Good luck to you mike, but could you sleep at night after recommending the place to friends?

I live here, but understand the problems.

If you refrain from pointing them out to prospective buyers you are being disingenuous.

I don't hide all the negative points of living here. I just believe that you should try and make the most of what you have and be happy. If you just think about all the negative points all the time you just become a bitter old person.

Mike is happy with his life here and he was letting us know. There is nothing wrong with that. Just because you are not happy Glynn you don't have to drag everyone else down with you.

I am happy here, but I believe it is important to keep a sense of reality. Living in some pseudo nirvana is just dopey!

Read between the lines and try engaging your brain for a few minutes. If you can' see the problems you should be very very worried...but then if you can't see the problems you probably haven't a clue.

Lovely for you.

I am certainly not hoping to sell .... but there again, I did not sell up in the UK and move out lock, stock and barrel. I still have my idyllic piece of North Yorkshire ... but enjoy my time in the TRNC. I have met many people who have had terrible problems here, and really feel for them, but those whose experience has been more positive should be afforded the opportunity to express the fact that they are pleased with their life here without being told they are giving a false impression to prospectives. There are many who will be only too ready give the other side of the argument.

Happy Anniversary Mikelapta.

I too am very happy here, im now in my 3rd year. I do sypathize with the people who have problems here and i wish them all the best in sorting it out. BUT.. why is it the ones that are happy are made to feel guilty for it, ?

mention ''happy' you get attacked. There are a lot of ex pats here that are very happy,i know some people who have had their houses for sale in the uk for 2-3yrs because they want to move here, but with the recession, they cannot sell, but if things do start moving there you will have more Brits coming here . the ones here who arnt happy maybe will beable to sell their homes and go back. but being so negative all the time, what are you trying to do?put people off in the future from coming here?

enjoy mikelapta, you lucky man, waking up each day to sunshine. Here in GB, we never know if its rain, sleet snow, wind and if we are really lucky sunshine!

Tonight I am even putting on my electric blanket for an hr, look at what you save on electric, heating etc, at least those of you in NC wont need these for a few months....

I am sorry to everyone except the recipient of my abuse for my last post. I am just sick of self opinionated miserable gits bringing down the whole TRNC, not only on this board but in general over here.

OK people have problems over here, some more than others. As Vonny said if you have a happy life here and are reasonably content the miserable buggers want to drag you down aswell.

Why can't they see what they are doing to other peoples lives by doing so? I really do despair.

My friend mikelapta posted his message to say he was happy and contented, what is wrong with that? Msg 2 "Sick bag please!!!!! "

What is wrong with some of you people? Why can't you accept that some people are happy?

smile be happy apc Thats my motto. I'm always cheerful and friendly when I go in a shop or cafe etc etc, doesn't cost anything. I usually get a smile back and more cheerful service. If I'm lucky I might even get a freebie of some sort. Always do in starling supermarket even if I just get a loaf, they know how much I spend in there and are friendly with me. Same in butchers, get a bit of meat, have a little chat and he'll give me a bone for our dog.

Thanks to the majority of posts agreeing this is a nice place to be !!!!The few negative posts...apc,glynn...go outside NOW,before 0800am,,100% blue skies, warm, flowers everywhere !!!!!Smell the perfume.!!!!!

And apc I did not buy a cheap house, but a house I could afford after working bloody hard in the UK for

50 years.I do not know where my nearest Brit neighbour is,I have lovely T.C's,and a Moldovian,Ukrainian...we are all good friends.

Time to sweep the jasmine flowers from the patio, clean the pool......I would not be doing that in Aberwystwyth !!!!

Laptamike, you have not been here long, but I admire your comments.YES smile and learn some Turkish,

a "merhaba" goes a long way !!!!

Happy 2nd Anniversary Mike! that means it must have been mine & Bernie's a couple of weeks ago - how time flies when you're enjoying yourself!

I too absolutely love it here! I've had one or two problems (Shed, Belediyesi, police, court etc) but I agree with you Mike - opening the shutters to that bright sunshine every morning is priceless!

I second Sheila - here's to the next 20 years! xx

Well done Mike, we have been here now for almost eighteen months and love the place. It is not perfect, there are things that drive you crackers, many people have got problems with property, but that happens all over the world. Best just to ignore the gloom merchants, they would find something to complain about in Paradise. Hope you have many more happy years in TRNC.
