I received an email from Hal Crompton (he writes the Computer column in Cyprus Today) asking me to sign the petition mentioned below, and to let all my friends know about it; -

The MoD is about to close the last dedicated military hospital in the UK. RMH Haslar (RNH Haslar as was) is the last remaining military hospital in the UK. A petition has been raised to prevent its closure, but Downing Street cynically gave the originator just one month to raise 5,000 signatures. This time expires on Tuesday August 19th.

Our wounded servicemen and women returning from active duty deserve better than a trolley in the corridor of an overcrowded NHS hospital; they need the specialised care that can only be given by doctors, nurses and support staff who have been specifically trained in the care of people with the physical and mental injuries that are inflicted by modern weapons.

If Haslar closes Britain will be the only country in the Western world without a specialised military hospital. Our people deserve better than that.

I wrote an article for the newspaper here in North Cyprus about this petition. I have attached it, not for self-aggrandisement, but so that you can read the facts.

Please, sign the petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Wounded/, and ask all your friends to sign it too. Before Tuesday August 19th.

Hi Dee,

I think you may not have noticed that I did not claim to have written the piece, I gave full credit to, and identified the author, and was in fact asked by him to pass the message on.

I have also posted the request on TRNC Villa Owners BB, Bogaz.info BB, and asked the admins at The Northern Cyprus BB to post it for me.

In all cases I have made full and proper attribution as to authorship.

By the way, if you haven't signed yet - Please do !

Best regards,

Keith.

Here is an update for those who signed the petition asking the Prime Minister to "Create a dedicated Military & Veterans Hospital within the UK."

The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can view that response here: -
