We are holidaying in Fethiye, Turkey next year, but our friend have announced their wedding at the same time to be held in Pataras, South Cyprus. If we fly or sail from Turkey to North Cyprus, will we be ok to cross into Southern Cyprus? Is there a particular border crossing point? Is there a car ferry that we can take or transport that will transfer us from the North Cyprus airport to Pataras?

Hi Jools,

yes you can travel between the borders of North and South. there are many checkpoints you can go through, all with no hassle.

you may want to try a company that offers holidays through the south to the North, they can give you more specific advise.

they are Direct Traveller http://www.directtraveller.com

This company was the first ones to create the service so they know quite alot about the borders.

you could fly from dalaman to Ercan airport, and pop over to the south, protaras is about 1 hour from Ercan.

David James - The point you have missed is the only people allowed by the Greek Cypriots to cross the border (Green Line) are those with Cypriot or EU passports.

Jools - if you or one of your party do not have an EU passport then that person is at risk of refusal in either direction. This in the worst case could mean having to return either to Fethiye or to (I guess) the UK directly. Neither your travel insurance nor your tour operator will cover you in this instance.
