Has anybody eaten at Nosheen restaurant recently? We went when it first opened and found the food & service to be very good! We have noticed several negative threads/replies on cyprus44 lately about this particular establishment. any views would be appreciated

Absolutely nothing negative from our visits. It has taken over from our usual haunt over the last 6 years Jashan's and what was Oleander. Sorry to Riaz at Jashan's, we had no problems with it. We just prefer Nosheen. Best Nan bread on the island.

Only got good things to say. Have been at least a dozen times and never been disapointed. If we fancy a curry, we'll drive from Tatlisu to Alsancak for one of theirs. 'Nuff said !!

We have had some really good meals there. I have posted before about how I have not been able to understand why so few people were using it.

my friend is over in a few weeks, we both like a nice hot curry so will deff give it a try. Do they do madras, patia, vindaloo etc? I know some of the more popular Indians don't have them on their menu. One other question, do they get the oil to water ratio right? (Should have an oily sheen to the curry, a lot don't use enough oil or ghee over here, and before anyone criticises me I am a curry guru)

The excess oil and ghee, is sooooooooooo bad for you, any Indian restaurant that is any good will try to avoid it,

Just like the red food dye lots of them used in keema meat, and tandoori, etc, It is now frowned up on, and also the food inspectors are against it.

You can make a superb Curry with virtually no oil, or just alittle bit of olive oil to start it off, India had a dreadful amount of heart and cholestral pronlems, (mainly due to ghee)

This is also what will give you that dreadful heart burn about 4hours after eating it. Avoid it, you don,t need it.

They do a really good value lunch, (al la carte after 5pm) but even so there is a large selection of curries to choose from! Starter (bhaji or pakora), curry with rice or nan and then an icecream. Too much nan for one - I was really sad to leave some!! Best curry by a long way, always sad that there are so few there when we pop in for lunch!

The best Indian by far. Nothing against Jashans and the others, but Nosheens is just far superior. Eaten there about 20 times and never had a bad meal (except for the set menu / belly dancer night when the food was ok but the service was terrible).

JohnnyLee, the ghee is an integral taste of the curry. I'm not talking about using excessive amounts but omitting it all together or not using enough affects the taste of the curry. My original question was not answered by the way.

Hi Lilli,

All is well in the Waddo world. Got my final, final clearance from the path boys and girls so dead happy with my lot now. Hardly a scar to show for it - bit poor that when you have paid for a scar and don't get one, its a bloke thing - but can happily recommend that doctor to anyone. Painless, almost, aftercare 900%!

Sorry Mike that is not so, Many fantastic indian dishes are made without ghee, When I make a curry you could virtuallry rinse the plate in cold water.

We use very little of it in my Restaurant, and we are rated as one of the top Indian Eateries in the UK.

I have created around half of the dishes on my menu , along with my Chef, (who is a very sought after master Indian Chef) of around 30 years, and I think he would disagree with you.

But glad to hear that Nosheen have got it together, but is it consistent, I rated them very highly on my Curry debate last year, and lots of people went on my reco. We had enjoyed a very good meal there.

But when we returned, things where not up to scratch, so I was very concerned that I had advised people to go,

If its back to good then I look forward to trying it again.

well JohnnyLee, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I've tried so called fatless curries and found them revolting. Just didn't taste right and had a totally wrong consistency.

I suppose a high fat curry once in a while won't kill anyone. Like anything else in moderation is OK. Johnny is obviously a man of many talents so I respect his views. I try to keep the oil content on everything down when I cook at home, but the olive oil is so nice here, and supposedly very good for you.

Is this the place where they have the Elvis impersonator? I have been to an Indian on the way (main road) to Lapta from Alsancak as such. I reserve my thoughts on food until someone confirms it is the same place...

negativenick mess 22. I wasn't slagging off JohnnyLee simply stating what I have found in the past. We're only entitled to our own opinions aren't we?

Message 22 and 23, nice comments, thank you. Message 25, my Restaurant is between W,hampton and Cannock, just off the M6 or M54.

It is not a normal Indian restaurant, It is set in a 17th century listed Barn. in its own grounds with a beer garden.

I started it 15 years ago this Dec. It enjoys avery high reputation, (lets hope it stays that way.)

N.N. was my insurance broker at he time in the UK, ( and like I always say, love him or hate him) he new the insurance trade like the back of his hand, and you could not have dealt with anyone better.I remember the first time he saw it, I think the word is blown away.

Google it . Kings Repose, Wolverhampton.

Ok recepies, I am sworn to the Curry secret, yes it does exsist. But as soon as i have time I will give you some of my own,

Maybe also change Lapta Mikes opinion, that would be a challenge. Regards to you all
