| http://www.cyprus-mail.com/opinions/self-flagellation-or-brave-attempt-tell-truth/20101003 Self-flagellation or a brave attempt to tell the truth By Loucas Charalambous Published on October THE REVELATION about the torching of a Cyprus mosque, by retired Turkish general, Sabri Yirmibeshoglu sparked a frenzy of self-righteous indignation among the Greek Cypriot politicians and commentators, who always occupy the moral high ground. In Turkey, the media reported the general’s revelations, condemned the action and even broadcast a TV show that discussed it. ... no politician ever dared to talk about the above-mentioned crimes and no television channel ever invited the two witnesses, who had revealed the Akritas acts of provocation,to talk so that people could hear the truth. | (cont) No newspaper has written or will ever write, “We placed the bomb at the Marcos Drakos monument;” nor will the CyBC do a show about it. While two of the leading figures of the Akritas organisation are regular guests on TV shows, discussing the past, no journalist has dared to ask them why their organisation placed a bomb at the monument and why it set the Ayios Kassianos school on fire. It is painfully clear that we are very different from the Turks when it comes to dealing with our recent history. We just do not have the courage to admit that we ever did anything wrong because that would be self-flagellation. |

| One voice will unfortunately be cast as a loony by those who don't want the truth to be out. I applaud his attempt but it needs corroboration from others otherwise the propaganda spin merchants will win... again. |
