| Simply, no. But they do damage chlorine particles very quickly and can cause cloudyness of the water with only a small amount. |

| Sun creams that are not soluble do not block sand filters but they do degrade the efficiency as they coat the grains and make them smooth and rounded, reducing their mechanical ability to trap dirt particles between them. As a rule of thumb, sand should be changed every 3-4 years. |
