We are desparately trying to find a kitten a new mum. We could hear it crying on the wasteland next to our house. It's overgrown with bushes and tree's, but today, after having a more thorough look, my Mum and Aunt managed to rescue it. We first heard it crying 3 days ago, so has been stuck there for at least that many days and nights, and somehow managed to survive, not only without food, but also from any other animal out there. We've never really been animal people until we moved here, but am guessing its about 3 weeks old. It cant feed properly as it is so young, so needs a cat that has just had kittens to feed and look after it.

Do you have a cat, or know someone who does, that has recently had kittens and might be able to feed this one until it can look after itself?

Please help.

chrisieh1. you can care for it, whilst its not ideal to be away from mammy, they will survive. i have one now that was lost, dumped whatever 3 weeks ago. If you saw him now all he wants to do is play. Give it milk mixed with water, feed it kat food . Cats are versatile and so self sufficent. they one with me was no more than 2 to three weeks old. He is a stunner. I will keep him till he is old enough to decide, I biggest problem is I may have turned him domestic. As he is now so loving. We will see xxxxxxx

Thanks Lilli. I had decided that if no-one comes forward then I will do my best with it. It must be a fighter to have survived so far, so I will do what I can rather than just leave it. It is asleep now, on an old fluffy dressing gown. Obviously feels snug and comfortable as it's the longest I have heard it stop crying. We can only do our best and just hope that it is good enough to give it a chance at least.xx

Thanks Sazna. We did contact them yesterday but they were just closing. They said they will try to find it a mummy that had just had kittens, but if they cant then I thought I would see if anyone else could help.

chrisieh1, try buying a very small baby bottle from the chemist and try feeding it with that.

Or the biggest syringe you can get - obviously without the needle! I hand reared one this spring in this way, on a mixture of pureed lamb or beef baby food, yogurt and condensed milk, thinned just a little with water. There are various recipes for hand rearing on the internet, and I based mine loosely on these with the ingredients I could find in the supermarkets here. She's now a very healthy happy cat.

If you go to the vets you can buy special baby kitten milk they will also have tiny feeding bottles, I know this as my son found 3 kittens that were about the same age as yours, he took himself down to the vets and came back with everything he needed (Paid for from his pocket money so not to expensive) he kept them in the garden feeding them four/fives times a day and now they are happy and healthy and have started to hunt for food themselves with a few cat biscults to help them along. my son is very proud of himself, so am I as he is only 11.

Thank you for all your advise. The kitten is now feeding a little, but us feeding it can only be a very short-term solution. There is no-one that can feed it throughout the day on a regular basis. So help still needed please.xx

We are still looking for a home for the kitten. She's gorgeous, well behaved, just likes to eat and sleep (she sleeps through the night, from about 10pm - 8am). We've now got her kitten powered milk and feeding bottle which she has taken to straight away. She's very strong on her feet which is great considering she was without food or being looked after for at least 3 days. We would love to keep her but there's no-one around all day so make sure she is ok, but also one of the people in the house is allergic to animals so it's not practical to keep it.

Please help if you can, or if you know someone else that could help.

Thank you
