Why can't the Orams claim compensation from IPC - after all, they lost their house due to an ongoing war dispute, and UBP renegued on their published promises that Brits would not be let down?

The other side of the arguement is that they were sold the land to build on under 'false pretences'..... ?

Then again, what any law-abiding country views and acts on as 'fraud' is not fraud in TRNC - in fact, positively condoned and encouraged by successive governments.

Let's see if the '5 Wise Men' can turn the situation around, or turn into yet another '5 Wise Blow-hards' to join the ranks of their notorious predecessors!

Last thing I saw was that TRNC gov. had put a compulsory purchase order on the house and the Orams were getting one elsewhere. Have I missed something?

The TRNC government have neither compulsory purchased the Orams' villa nor have they been offered a new property. They are still waiting to learn what will happen and in the meantime the house is standing neglected and what can be stolen from the garden has been taken.

I believe some people are circulating the information that the Orams' have done OK and are living the life of riley in a brand new mansion. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE.

So what are the Orams doing now. I do feel sorry for them with the mess that is really not their fault!

I didn't say it didn't happen that way, I just wasn't aware it had been proven, not just agreed by the courts that they lost the case.

I was not attacking, I was genuinely under the impression that it had never been proved they were aware of the ownership situation.

I think many people took a chance when they purchased in NC, some of whom where fully aware that it might not be totally legit and some got away with it, others fell foul of the situation.

Personally, I doubt if you are likely to find anybody who will admit that they took that chance at least not until there is a change and the ownership they have has some international recognition. If and when that happens there might be a gret many relieved owners but unfortunately in my opinion the Orams were very unlucky, whether they knew about the situation they had bought into or not.

proger, a very honest answer,,, that is why (in my opinion ) the calls for protests/demos recieve little support except in cyber space, in person it is everyone for themselves .....sad but true .......

reminds me of the other thread "were you born in the 40s....etc......"

but in an ironic way ,,,,,,

sorry again proger i am a big fan of irony ............

Don't think I saw that thread, back to this one, it would appear the subject grabs a lot of attention if not discussion. There are over 1000 views but this is only the 15th post and about 6 are from us.

You are probably right about the cyber space support but I have noticed thet there are a few individuals in NC who will shout for the rafters online to help but if it means walking out the front door it gets a slight change of heart.

Maybe they should consider utilising that to their advantage and doing online support instead of evrybody show up to prove we are serious which turns into an embarassing "where is everybody" or maybe they have all ready tried all that and it didn't help much either.

I am off to look for the born in the 40's thread, you have me intrigued to find out what else I have not understood about life being born 20 years too late

Again sad but true. What a wonderful world it would turn out to be if all of the members on here had to give the absolute truth about themselves at a mass meeting. You know a bit like an Alcoholics meeting.

Hi, I'm Paul and I am an annoying git who tries to force people to write things realisticly on a Forum where they are happy to spout rubbish because they are hidden"

I like to think that the people who know me are not surprised by what and how I write on here because I don't think I change that much from the real me, I can't say if that is true but nobody has actually told me I am completely different so I can only guess, I know quite a few other posters who I am sure would be told the same, I am also quite confident that there are a bunch of posters who would never act in real life the way they do on here but it is impossible to change that unfortunately.

OK, tirade over for tonight, I am going to educate myself a little more, time to watch stupidity on youtube

msg 2;

>>"UBP renegued on their published promises that Brits would not be let down? "<<

It was not UBP nor TRNC that had let them down but their own self, simply by having asset/s in another EU country.

Hello peeps

pikey, I think having watched and read your offerings for some considerable time, with some amusement and occasionally admiration, you will soon be witnessing an end game that will not be very palatable to many of the rump supporting persuasion, but it will be a fair end game and then the TRNC will flourish and your jousting can stop

Only my opinion

This thread seems to have gone completely and utterly and totally off beam. What was the question? I thought it was 'anyone got an update' but all I have read is a tirade of fault, blame and denegration of the TRNC.

Does Pipie still want an answer?

It is dangerous putting facts on Cyprus44, Pipie. They seem to bring out the worst in people and also can bring totally unnecessary comments. I would e mail you but you have decided not to give it.

So, I will share just a tantalising comment which gives you basic facts, but fuller details will have to wait.

First of all, if one goes to Lapta one can see the current state of the property. It is empty, not demolished (and won't be) but as yet nothing else has happened.

The most important aspect of the case is that damages have been agreed and payment will be dealt with soon.

The rest will follow in due course, but for the Orams I think the most important thing is to have the 'sword of damacles' which hangs over their house in Hove. But the end is in sight.

Does that help Pipie?

Thank you Maz . Please us keep updated .

As for the Orams they, in my opinion they handled all in such a dignified manner. I do hope something goes in there favour, cause they sure deserve it !!
