Have brought out a Free Sat box, to use out here, but realise now that is for UK only. Can this be modified to use here, if so, does anyone know where?

Free Sat or Freeview?

If it is the freesat,ie skybox with freesat card then you will need a 1.8m dish at least if you want to watch any channels.

This is confusing for most folk..

Freeview is the digital terrestrial service using an aerial on the roof - USELESS in CY

Freesat is the free channels via a SKY dish, but NOT using a SKY receiver

'Freesat from SKY' is the above using a SKY card Works better in CY as you get get a stronger channel 5, SKY 3 and ITV on a 1.8m ( that are scrambled on a 'true' Freesat box )

If you mean a Freesat box such as Humax which receives the Freesat channels then this comes from astra e satellite I believe which I think has a small footprint and could be needing a very large dish over in north cyprus. Freesat is a set of channels provided by an agreement with both ITV and BBC etc and includes other negotiated providers. Unfortunately as MM says there is freeview and also sky allow free access to some channels which they also unfortunately call Freesat which you can get a viewing card for for a one off fee of about £20. Hope I have got that right, it is alittle confusing at first sight.

The unit CAN be programmed to receive other clear ( unscrambled signals) satellite signals - you'd be better to give it to someone in the UK to take back and let them give you a DiSEqC capable receiver - one that can receive channels from more than one satellite

If you are in the UK *I* would swap it ... I have some receivers that work with any sat / or more than one sat and can even record - using a USB stick

It is a Humax box I brought out from the UK, and I have a 4.2 mtr dish, no viewing card required
