Some weeks back a question was posted and a member on here gave details incl a phone number of a person who worked in customs that you could contact to work out what the exact duty etc would be.

Would it be possible to post that guys details again?

cheers

I dont know if you mean me#!I dont work as an officer but have lots of contacts there.

As much as the cost of duty would be different from one day to the next since they are based on dollar and the rate of the day,if you could mail me the logbook i could have it worked out for you.

Hi

Here's a calculation we did recently - not sure what the dollar exchange rate was at the time.

Example: Car value £11,000, engine size 1997 cc. Total Tax £8,398. That's Pounds stg.

Enough to make anyone's sun tan fade....

We can ship your vehicle though if you decide to go ahead!

Cheers

Hi guys,

Who decides how much a car is worth? I have a 1996 Nissan 200SX that I'm planning on driving to Cyprus next year. I believe I can import it as I have owned it for more than five years. If I sold it in the UK I'd be lucky to get £1500.00 for it, but it's a nice car and I love it. I've also heard that Japanese cars are taxed more than European cars. Does anyone know if this is true?

Cheers,

Martin
