Can anybody let me know what these hotels are like. Which one do people prefer?

I would suggest the first one, easier in distance to make a quick get away should you be disappointed and want to find alternative arrangements. The latter is based out in the bush away from humanity except for their uptodate price charging policy!

Richard, that is a little of an over estimation I think. Acapulco is only an extra 3 minutes drive from the Malpas turn off.

As for the pricing, you are absolutely right, Acapulco does seem to be a bit high for what they offer. Wife looked into joining the spa today and was quoted 1500TL per person, she will be checking the Malpas but I am sure it is cheaper

I am staying at the Malpas mainly because I got an excellent deal on the internet through GoNorthCyprus. Food has been excellent with a super variety at all meals I was not expecting these standards in North Cyprus. My room is very comfortable although the furniture is showing signs of wear. I am using wi fi every day no problems and my room is in an annex a short walk away. Service very good staff very helpful and the health suite is excellent especially with the massages. What would I change at the hotel? For us British we need tea making facvilities there are no kettles in the bedrooms and to order an early morning cuppa say 10 minutes before you need it in the annex is not my choice. Bring a travel kettle and T bags. It cannot make financial sense for the hotel to charge say a couple of ytl for a member of staff to deliver hot drinks to the rooms outside the mainhotel. I guess the hotel policy excludes you from bringing your own food drinks in so you would need to hide the kettle.

I have stayed at both and there is no comparison. The Malpas is streets ahead in every way specially if you got stuck in the old part of Acapulco. Malpas beach club is Coronaro and is superb. Malpas always has deals available even at the desk. Much nicer all round.

Are you better off booking direct or with a travel co as the hotels prices appear more expensive

Hi Linus

It seems that some have booked with agencies, I used to use Green Island before completing the house and they were always realistic. When I walked into Malpas reception, after leaving a hotel on Esentepe due to their inability to clean, I was given a fantastic rate. I would think that this would still be so as since then more hotels have opened with more vacant rooms. Incidentally last week I spoke to a guy staying at the Savoy who said it was OK but nothing special and a little dissapointing.

Cannot beat the Accapulco for the lovely beach side setting . Old part of the Acapulco rooms need a refurb . New part is ok

Malpas on the whole being a newer hotel is more stylish .

just checked out after a week what with drinks with every meal a few at the bar and three massages, extras about £125 I thought that was good value for a 5* hotel...ok I did not drink excessively but wine with dinner at 5ytl a glass must be a bargain compared with the competitors
