I am shocked to see how stupid the powers that be controlling the Cratos Hotel are. Tonight they have searchlights flashing back and forth in the direct flight path from Ercan to Turkey. The flight crew have enough to cope with flying in and out of Ercan as it is. Imagine taking off, flying over the mountain and having that to cope with. Ercan has limitations as regards landing aids as it is.

In the opinion of most educated people flashing lights and strobes do not draw people to the Hotel but serves to cheapen it.

Yes agree with you there. Lowering the tone of the whole area. Thought they were meant to be low key and not interfering or disturbing the local populace. Not happening is it.

Thats just the local discos. Did the 'celebrities' turn up?

Surprise tyson and van damme were late with drawlels

usual hype - no end product. tickets up to 1000 tl as on another post - more money than sense, unless a gambler!

Whether you spent 100 or 1000TL on something is a personal choice - and I could not afford either! - but I just cannot see how this adds one ounce to the ethos of Northern Cyprus, - remember this is The Island of Love, and this sport is more The Essence of Hatred.

Msg 8 - I totally agree. There are enough problems here without offering 'this' as another excuse to keep us in the 'bad books' of the world. unfortunately, money in means a lot more in the short term.

will not help the country, citizens, or people like us who have moved here to make this our country of residence.

I keep getting marketting messges from Cratos on my mobile about 2-3 a day. As soon as I see "Cratos" I delete them without ever reading them and I will never go to Cratos because of such high pressure marketing.

Amen to Scoty, and also to Ismet.

Let's see if the government really do anything. I think the statement was 'if Cratos go ahead with the cage fight , ' we will take whatever steps we deem necessary'. I DO hope that the Government takes a tough line on this, because as Scoty says 'this will not help the country.'

There ARE decent people within the government who ARE concerned about the reputation of this place, so let's hope they are able to shout. But it is verydifficult to shout against such a huge sum of imported, invested money!

Such a rotten shame.

Ismet is VIP and rumoured to be the next President so it is the interests of the 'Mafiosos' to keep him on board, just in case!

Some 1 is selling batches of numbers to others for advertising.Thats how they got your number.its not computer generated.

Its a small lucrative business here,in the uk and others countries it is very lucrative.

Large blue chip companies will pay fortunes for a disk with several million phone numbers and email addresses on it.

cyprus44 also has a good data base with over 10000 customers on it,and all email addresses, Not that im saying our email addresses Could be sold off on a disk. its just a example!

The beautiful cut throat world of advertising

BT sold me "ex directory" then inundated my telephone with unsolicited calls selling their services. They would not accept that "ex directory" was all inclusive even when I had to resort to telling them to rev up, and go away with quick jerking movements.

With reference the cage fighting, why are people so bothered it is not with chain saws and axes it is mixed martial arts. there are governing bodies controlling it and it is a sport. When David haye boxes does everybody say this is brutal and damaging for the country? No because it is a sport. I think you have all watched too much of mad max 3 and think this is cage fighting. When places like Cratos open and bring more people to the Island and make the TRNC a better place, Giving us more choice for eating drinking and entertainment why complain. You will not complain that your house price goes up as more people come here.

How can the staging of a legitimate sporting event be deemed to be a negative thing in a country that is already isolated?

If the Cratos wants to stage something REALLY spectacular, they need to get in touch with our favourite Australian bard, who will send the big boys [in the following ditty] to entertain you all - this makes 'cage fighting' seem like 'Ring a ring o' roses'!
