Hi,

Does anyone know where you can have this done and how much it costs?

Davidots,

It varies from local authority to local authority depending on where you live. Go to the Belediye and make enquiries is my suggestion.

I paid 25tl (roughly) a few weeks ago here in Çatalköy. It seems to be more of annual registration - but best check as per message 2.

Correct me if I am wrong , but I don't believe it is a legal requirement to have your dog registered. My neighbour has three dogs and has lived here for six years - is very law abiding - yet has never had to register his dogs.

PS I have not registered mine either, although I got it from KAR and, of course, they keep a register of where their dogs have gone.

They require registration in Lapt not the Alsancak area . The cost is 12 tl per dog plus worming tablets you will have to go to the Lapta belediye and they will do it there.

If you do not have a license they said they have the power to take your dog and have it put down, I asked the question and that is the answer they gave.

you must take your dogs vaccination cards with you old and new .

Alsancak had their registration days at the beginning of this month. It cost a total of 22tl (10tl plus 12tl) for registration plus 2 worming tablets (not sure which fee was for what).

Check at your Council offices.

p.s. it wasn't necessary for the dog to be present.

I believe you have to register then. We live near Kucuk Erenkoy but registered them in both Esentepe (no TL12 per dog and you get a disc with a number on, renewable yearly. Hope this helps.

Apart from when he came out of quarantine over 8 years ago, I didn't have to register my dog until I moved to Çatalköy. I doubt very much that they would sieze and destroy a dog for not being registered unless the dog was running amok. It seems they are obsessed with worming for some reason, and weren't interested in any other health aspects. It was advertised as a health check and they didnt even let me get him out of the car!! So please don't get stressed, just ask your local belediye when the next date for registering is.
