Our puppy, efes, just picked up his water bowl and started walking away with it. I said 'Hey put it back' and then pointed at him and then pointed to where his water bowl is normally kept. Amazingly he looked at me with doleful eyes and then put it back. Totally shocked that he took any notice of me for once ;-)

Ah bless him! One of ours goes and washes his paws in the water bowl if they get dirty, then puts his face in it and blows bubbles They're a never ending source of entertainment.

There was a very interesting programme on TV abiut 12 minths ago showing how even very young dogs will respond to hand signals whereas chimpanzees will not pick up on this sort of signal. They also respond to facial expressions of humans. It was a documentary about how and why dogs became domesticated--so there you go

When we want to call our cat in at night (she hides in the bushes). We just say "Come on - Bed time - get your jamas on" She appears from the bushes and trots back indoors !!!

girne. My son's dog bangs his bowl on the floor, he will not eat all his dinner at once, he stops eating begs for a treat then goe's off to finish the dinner. I had a border collie who always left a little bit of food in the bowl at tea time and when we said it was bedtime she would go to finish the food off, we used to call her bedtime dilly dally.

We have a female cat which thinks she is a Houdini alarm clock. Opens closed doors by swinging on the handles, opens sliding windows on back legs and using claws, opens locked doors by charging the barrel of the lock until the button releases, opens locked cat doors spinning the lock until engaged in the right slot to open. In mornings, if licking of our faces does not awaken us she goes through a routine of going under the bedding and biting toes, then onto the dressing table and deliberately pushing everything there off onto the floor and if that does not work will start overturning anything within her physical capability. We had a neighbour who was a West Ham supporter but he was not welcome as he would sing "I'm forever blowing bubbles" which is the name of this prat cat !
