Thanks Mcsteviet.

I think it is a trip to the South, Marshalls have a German version, i used it 2 years ago, but No Good t is better paying Extra Pennies and buying something Good. There is a Saying you always pay for what you get.

No need to go South. All of the paint shops sell it. It is the Turkish equivalent of hammerite and it does exactly the same job. I did my railings with it 2 years ago and no probs.

All,

I recently had all my railings done at my place, through Glenco, they brought the hamirite in the south. did a good job as well, several coats were put on, looks a lot better, railings should not rust now, good for several years

Hello MC really not advisable and is against airline regulations, honestly better to purchase it here either in TRNC or over the border, it is available here but at a premium a 2.5ltr tin will cost you about £35 or at today's rate 77ytl, on the other side you can purchase it for 36/38euros about £29/£30

Greg,

It's not really worth driving to the South for that differential is it. Cost you more in time & petrol to get there, unless your going anyway.

Any idea how far a 2.5 ltr tin will go on standard (if there is such a thing) outside balcony railings.

......and do/can you thin it down at all or just use it straight out of the Tin?

You can use straight from the tin, mini roller works best on railings, a quarter of the time than with a brush.

I didn't know it was against airline regulations! I sent out a tin of black Hammerite with my missus last month. Thank Christ for that, she would have coped it rather than me.

Bloody shower! Nobody tells me anything!

Tayf will be selling Hammerite net year as well as Dulux. I was speaking with the owner and he also told me that they sell a metal paint which is the same if not better than Hammerite ( not a turkish company). This company have apparently bought out hammerite.

I have bought that paint three years ago and it is still doing fine

i bought 3 tins of silver smooth hammerite from the large store behind Ikea in Lefkosia, think it`s called something like "homeland"and it wasn`t overpriced. good store that stocks loads of nice stuff. maybe a combined visit to there and Ikea would be worthwhile.
