David,

Why don't you pop-in for a wet and have a listen.

Music will be Western not Turkish and cover the 50's through to the 90's.

Age group? Every age group, from yours down to your birds!

Yep, great time of year to open a restaurant/bar, just as the season is coming to an end.

This bar/restaurant is aimed at residents (temporary and permanent) and not tourists, so there is no "season".

Come along and take a look at the venue and the menu.

Snooker table? - not as far as I know.

msg 21. So tourists not welcome? A little bit of Britain?

No-one said tourists weren't welcome, but the business plan does not depend on them. Any business that depends on tourists would be hard pushed to succeed in TRNC today.

All year round "temporary" and permanent residents are the target market.

The food will certainly not be a "little bit of Britain".

The business plan is then depending on "temporary" and permanent residents how many can afford to keep a bar/restaurant going every night? surely they must depend on some tourists eating there.

"Temporary" and permanent residents include locals as well as ex-pats.

Tourists will play a very small, but never-the-less welcome, part.

The restaurant will not be open every night.

You really will have to try it for yourself before you pass judgement on its viability.

It is on the main road and there is no suggestion that a tourists money isn't just as good and welcome as anyone elses.

Surely everyone would be better off popping along and trying the bar and restaurant themselves before passing judgement, resident, non resident or tourist all welcome i am sure.

Give them a break and make up your own minds after trying the place first.

Good luck to the new owners and staff.

As you know detailed maps for the whole of Cyprus are now available on the Navigation Devices and they are becoming very popular in TRNC as well. Thus it may be a very good selling point to state the coordinates of the venue as well.

Hi Vaughan, when is the car park going to be finished will it be finished for the open night. For fine dining you certainly need a hard surface to walk on from the car/taxi to the restaurant. At the moment all that is there is dust, later on in the year it will be mud.

Vaughan, you should be able to pinpoint it on Google Earth and read off the coordinates at the bottom.

I am planning to be there this evening, so I may take a fix and post it tomorrow afternoon.

Crofter,

Can I suggest you bring your Wellies, if you are worried about the car park?

Rogerdodger,

Follow the coast road from Girne towards Catalkoy. The Aqua Park is on your right next door to the Grove Restaurant. If you see the Coca Cola depot on your left, you have just gone 100 metres too far.

I must say, its a lovely place and the chef knows what he is doing. Give it a try.

I was there last Saturday evening and took a fix on my GPS.

N35deg 19min 45.6 sec.; E33deg 22min 20.3 sec

Or some people like me may prefer it in decimals:

N 35.329333; E 33.372306
