Buy Cheap Mobile Phone Alsancak Area

Having read through previous posts re mobile phone charges I reckon that my cheapest way to touchbase with elderly parents in the UK whilst in TRNC is to buy a mobile phone with a turkish sim card etc. I'm staying at Park Lane Bungalows next week, can anyone suggest where I might buy a phone in that area and how cheap is cheap?!

I just bought a Nokia 1280 phone just last week. Its about as cheap as they come and cost 60 TL, plus 20 TL for a turk cell sim card.



This is not close to Alsancak, but the place I bought this one was the mobile phone shop right along the eastern roundabout in Girne (the same one with Mani Peni restaurant and Shooters coffee house).

If you have a spare mobile phone or even get a cheap one in the UK, then take that and one of the phone shops will sell you a sim card, remember to take photo ID and they set it up for me so messages were in English. I used one of the phone shops in Girne in the high street. My place is in Alsancak but I do not know of a shop that sells sim cards there.

I have a brand new phone still in the box unlocked ready to take telsim or turkcell . A telsim sim card with 100 units is 20tl from the Telsim shop in Girne phone colpet with charger £20

don't know where park lane bungalows are but I live in lapta and drive to girne everyday so could drop it off to you if not far from beaten track

Thanks everyone for your thoughts re mobiles in TRNC. Thanks Scootex and Settledhere for offers of phones for sale. I have decided to go down the 'bring 2 pay as you go sim cards with credit on which I already have' route with me! I'm also going to get my 10 year old to show his grandparents how to use SKYPE.
