If you are a blood donor, do you have to go and have a blood test for residency, as someone said you just show them your donor card ?? also if you do have to have a test, can you just collect form from Police station or do you have to go at 7 in the morning and wait your turn !

Many thanks

You have to que at the Police station in order to get the slip, you then have to go to get your blood test and return to the police station with your receipt from your blood test and que all over again. The actual results you have to take to Nicosia when you collect residency. Its a sham, it would be so much easier if you could just get your blood test first then go to police with it, instead you have to que twice.

parkview, not wishing to argue with you as it seems to be different in every case however my wife queued from 6:45 to get the slip for the blood test only to be told she can come any time and just ask for that, then when you have the results you need to queue from early o to get the ticket for all the paperwork to be processed.

I suppose the moral of the story is, if you are normally awake that early in the morning then go and get the slip whether you want to queue or not, if you are not an early bird normally just go in and ask over the counter for a slip for blood test allthough you will need to go back for the next stage at the early o'clock time to get the ticket for processing.

And before anyone argues with my statements, it seems that everybody has a diferent experience, the one I have mentioned is what we were informed is the correct procedure but not definately the only one available.

I've heard the blood lab near the Watermill Hotel is the cheapest at 70TL. I'll let you know next week with name and address when I have to go through this bloody process!

As you say it all depends on how they are feeling at the time, this was what happened to me 2 weeks ago.

This morning we went into the office to ask for the slip, he asked if we had paperwork with us, we had.He said we would need to take a ticket, but as it was 9:45 they had all gone. He told us to go back at 12:30 so we wouldn't have long to wait.

We shall see!

Well, I went on Monday to renew residency and ask for ins and outs, and was told by fellow Brit Max that byou didn`t need that but that you have to queue for form to get blood test. ( He had tried the previous wednesday just to get form ).

So went back this morning at 7.15 a.m to get ticket ,saw max again, he had got his blood test, got my number but at just before 9.45 the nice police man came out and said any people just here for slip to get blood test come in.

I went in ...............he just took passports and wrote slip out and said come back tomorrow with slip from blood test..............................didn`t even look at all my paperwork........................

It's much easier than I think you are finding.

If 2 of you go, get your ticket, say number 4 for example.

Try to get a blood form immediately they open the doors, if not, one of you them goes and gets bloods done, takes say 10 mins, the other stays with the number if it is called, swap with the next person (5) in the line until the first person returns, then repeat. Worst case is you end up 2-3-4 people down the queue but all done in one visit.

If you want to make it even easier, get bloods done, but ask the lab to date if for the following day.

Job done.

Please, can you recommend a 'budget priced' clinic who will co-operate with post-dating?

I'm sure you will be doing oodles of folks a big favour if you divulge your secret!

Got all the necessary documents ready etc!!! went to Girne Police station at 7.30, put my name down on list was number 28......when they opened i walked in with my passport and asked for blood test form, and got one, in the meantime went and had blood test done just up the road, went back with receipt and waited my turn...hey presto.....got seen at 12oclock......by the way i`m under 60 and a blood donor, but you still have to have one, 70 lira....cheaper than 100lira in most places.

Am now looking for my Valium !!!!!!
