Historically money halves in value every ten years.... this is an economic fact that often gets missed when people start talking about 'do you remember the day when you could buy a suit for 10 shillings?' not remembering that 10 shillings was two weeks wages then! Take two weeks wages now and you could probably buy two suits...

As monetary values decrease it isn't surprising that some things go up but it's only on paper. If you earn more the effect is lessened...

When dishwashers were first on the market the cost was today's equivalent of three thousand pounds.

However the exchange rates being 2.85 and now 2.25 means that the TL is very much stronger... not the fault of Turkey and not a reason to say prices have gone up...

Since 2007 (when we first purchased) we have seen a rise of about 50% on food and drink (restaurants)

NCMan, You are probably right... they seem to want prices to stay still here when the rest of the world is volatile as hell.... Cyprus is not life in a bubble.

If they only asked themselves what their income was 10 years ago and then compared it's buying power to today.
