it has come to light that poles living in britain have a dossier detailing on how to dodge electricity bills ,rent ,tax and insurance companies. once you have cheated the communist government you can run rings round the british . some are charging new poles on how too carry out these scams ,the hardest hit is british gas and electricity companies ,maybe we are now paying for their theft. have we become a push over . musin

i rented out a house to some very nice polish people , { or so i thought } when they left it was apparent they had paid no bills at all , and although the tenancy was for 3 people , there were 17 different names on the post being recieved at that address , it took me over a year to sort it out and hours on the phone and numerous correspondance to various debt collectors credit card companies , utilities ect ect , an absolute nightmare , never again ,

I personally detest the xenophobic comments that people make against the Polish people. In Blackpool, there are around 18,000 Poles (July 2008). In my experience, they are hard working, decent, polite and respectful people who pay their taxes and without them, most of the jobs in the service industy and cafes, theme parks, production lines etc., would not be done. Our own British unemployed won't do half the jobs the Poles or Czechs will. This so called 'Cheats Charter' is nothing new - versions of it abound on the internet in the UK whereby the info is the same - just don't pay for utilities and council taxt etc., and keep changing the account holder's names around. It is an urban myth, that the Poles or any other European migrant workers simply come here to rip everyone off in Britain. The same happens with the hundreds of thousands of Irish people living here, the Australians, French, germans, New Zelanders - there are good and bad in all nationalities. The sooner we realise that through the European Union membership, all these people have a perfect right to come to Britain and work/ live (as we have the right to go there), the better. Xemophobia and fault blaming is counter productive and has no place in a modern society.

Oh and of course don't forget where the story came from ..... 'The Sun' newspaper.... yeah so it must be true eh? There was also the urban myth story going around that Poles coming to Britain to work were being given £3,000 grant each by the EU to come here, which of course was complete rubbish.

Blackpoolrock, Heard on radio the question, why nobody in the establishment seemed concerned about immigration the answer appears to be that the only people that are undercut are people earning under £15,000,and they dont have much influence. The establishment in general thinks its great because they are more likely to benifit from wage undercutting when getting their extensions built or property renovations. Doctors ,lawyers, politicians etc can afford to sing the praises of an influx of foreign labour, with glib statements that in 'enriches our culture',as their livlihood is not threatened. I think it was the chairman of the CBI who said it was good as it kept wage inflation down , as have some MP's.I hasten to add he wasnt talking about his own members, who have never been concerned about wage inflation when they and MP's stick their noses in the trough. I suppose, blackpoolrock, it salves our own conscience,to say they are not here so we have to pay our own people less, but rather because they are honest ,and hardworking. Having worked with several European nationals ,I certainly do not rate Poles any higher than our own people. Now if you are talking about the workshy, then that is another matter.Tho I think if I was looking for an apprenticeship in the building sector in London and found none was available as already trained Poles were in plentiful supply, but I could have a nice low wage manual job, then I might just become bitter and 'workshy'

Forgot to add, blackpoolrock you said. '' The sooner we realise that through the European Union membership, all these people have a perfect right to come to Britain and work/ live (as we have the right to go there), the better.'' Not true most other countries in Europe did NOT allow the open door policy that we allowed as they knew social consequencies would not be accepted by their populations, except over a period of time. ''Restrictions on workers from the new member states In May 2004, all EU-15 states - with the exception of BRITAIN Ireland and Sweden - decided to keep their doors closed to workers from eight of the ten new member states (all except for Cyprus and Malta). Then, when at the end of April 2006, they were again asked whether they would keep, abolish or change their approach to the issue, only Finland, Greece, Portugal and Spain indicated their intention to remove the restrictions.''
