At the same time that George Osborne was waving his axe, MEP's voted yesterday for a 6% rise in next years European budget. They want to add 7 billion euros to this years 123 billion annual budget.



I believe it is necessary, as I understand the costs of champagne and cigars are likely to rise next year. I wonder how much has been put aside for the TRNC. A nice cool billion would help.



They also voted for an increase in maternity leave to 20 weeks fully paid. This will cost Britain 2.6 billion

Also they're increasing our foreign aid by 37%. They are saying as we're one of the richest (were) countries in the world it's only right we should help others.

Am I missing something here ?

We have no money at all in fact we're owing Trillions including the shortfall in public sector pensions, so how can we be rich ?

Also the debt is increasing rapidly all the time because of the huge interest we're paying on our loan.

One minute they're saying we're destitute and sinking fast, the next they're saying we're a rich country so is there something they're not telling us ?

France is rioting because they want to put up the state pension age to 62. Poor sods, they don't know when they'r well off. Their deficit is only a fraction of ours but I bet they don't give a fraction of what we do in Foreign Aid. Also these poor countries we give to I bet don't owe a fraction of what we do.

The problem with giving to charity is that very often the ones who really need it still don't get it.
