| I was just watching a programme called 'Are You Safe On Holiday' and there was a feature on mossie repellants. Deet of course came out on top but it was pointed out that it can melt plastic and remove nail polish, also toxic if injested. All the stories about eating garlic, Marmite or taking vitamin B don't work either as the volunteers found out. Neither did my favourite one, Oil Of Cloves (though this definately does repel spiders, I know for sure) Put it neat on a cloth and rub it around window and doorframes and they will stay away. The best natural repellant was Lemon oil mixed with Eucalyptus oil, in the experiment it worked as well as the Deet. I wonder if it will work for sandflies? |
