I bet it doesn't apply to people that are already receiving their pensions!

I think it will apply to all pensioners but not for another 5 years!! We need it now though, not in another 5 years.

You are right - we need it now. Have you seen the price of Dom Perignon lately?

Strange! UK income tax applies wherever you live so I can't see them trying to stop paying pensions because you live abroad. After all you still either paid for your 30 years or lived there for that long anyway. Could be a major EU style bun fight if they try that one on! Loads of TC's and GC's who have returned to their own country will want there UK pensions paid regardless!

Rather makes a nonsense of paying full contributions for all ones working life to receive the same pension as someone who has paid little or nothing into the system. I am aware of several women who never worked or contributed into the system at all and now they will be eligible for the same renumeration of those who did.......fair....I think not

rsalih,

Msg 6. I very much doubt it... Those who qualify for UK pensions do so in all EEA areas including specifically the whole of Cyprus...

If they want to save a small fortune on Civil Service costs then non-means tested benefits is the way to go. They'll probably scrap the heating allowance along with the new regs...

Hi Swyflot - sorry, a misunderstanding

What I meant was what was the point of paying what used to be known as "the full stamp" for all those years, as many of us (including me) did, when there are others who didn't contribute but who will end up with the same pensions?

Sorry

Jean

I doubt government will be changing anything unless they save money on the total pension payout over and above savings on it's administration. Hope the figures they quote now will be index linked up until the payments are due in 5 years time otherwise it will be worse for those who paid fully all their working lives plus paid into all the other government supplementary schemes over the years towards an increased state pension.

Not such great news for current pensioners as it appears they may not qualify for the new payout.

The government are underestimating the power of the 'Grey Vote'
