More to the point they are NATO members and NATO need the bases in Turkey, so a V sign in the direction of Brussels or Strasbourg should do the trick.I would be quite happy to be annexed to Turkey and get rid of the amateurs making a balls of running, sorry pretending to run, TRNC.

Sorry. I am confused - I thought the echr had referred all claims to the IOC so can anyone explain how this has come about?

Ajaney

These 19 cases were approved for Juristiction in the ECHR before the court ruled that the IPC was the appropriate local remedy to be sought.

there is another big case coming with regards to a businessman and his Land in Varosha due on 2nd November.

All new claims have to go to the IPC route before the ECHR would even consider them.

Turkey's agreement to be bound by the ECHR is seperate from their application to the EU for membership. they could I suppose reverse their decision but I think it unlikely.

I think Turkey made a secret deal with ECHR and thus got the recognition for IPC. These cases they are ruling now were accepted before the IPC. So not so many in the pipe. turkey will pay it after making some noises.

Rock Ruby hotel application said, "The rent claimed was for the period dating back to January 1990 until 1 January 2003. The applicant did not claim compensation for any purported expropriation since it was still the legal owner of the property" So it looks as if the compensation was not for the property itself but loss of use etc.

Why do they not say they will look at these exaggerated claims fairly, after a solution is found? Surely, I have heard that somewhere before - from the GC side I believe.
