What medication is your husband on? I have picked up emergency supplies of my meds(gliclazide, Pro Gliclazide and Metformin) before but for the life of me I have no memory of what they cost. I don't live in TRNc and am just a frequent visitor so I don't know about blood tests etc. Nurseawful would probably be the best person to listen to, hopefully she will post.

Hi there Dopey. I too am type 2 but insulin dependant. I also take metformin and simvastatin and ramapril. All tablets are available over the counter at your local pharmacy. I have a repeat script at doctors in UK so anage to use these most of the time, but have bought tablets here when I runout.

There is a specialist doctor in Nicosia who is excelent. Blood tests and reports are affordable also at local clinics.

The weather will have a beneficial effect on his diabetes because you will adopt a more medeterranian diet.

Any pharmasist will give you prices for your medication. Prices are regulated by government so prices are not too high.

metforin 3/4tl

gliclazide 10.50tl

I believe Simvastin is under 10tl, stay on them as other statins are very expensive (Avastatin is 70tl and that is for half dosage),

not sure of the cost of your other drugs but going on my other medicatin all cheap. will let you know cost of blood test as going soon for mine,

these are all for a months supply,

hope this helps

Also diabetic, had HbA1c done a few weeks ago for 40TL at a private lab, a lot cheaper if you go to the state hospital however I can't ever be bothered to queue there just for my quarterly HbA1c.

I Live in north cyprus take metaforin tablets cheap to buy here.Nothing to worry about.Get yourself a machine that reads your gloucose level in the blood.Very simple to use.Unless you get an exept card from NHS dont bother paying by subscription, its nearly three times cheaper here.
