Congratulations to all at Kibtek for providing its customers with 33 years of misery.

Why the past and present Governments have declined unlike other third world/developing countries to employ foriegners who understand the meaning of deadlines and work a full day is beyond me.

I realise that the Cypriots know all there is to know about running a country, and that there isn't one T-Shirt that they haven't worn?! But, it really is time for the KibTek directors and the minister of Interior to throw the towel in (doesn't matter if its wet you won't get electrocuted).

I guess they cut you again Tony :(

I agree with you. This problem should have been solved way before. It has been more than 23 years TRNC founded and no government really solved this problem!

The reason they are cutting power nowadays is not because Teknecik had problems but they are replacing the cables all over the island.

So it's good sign

Should have had a back up plan in place 1/4 of a century ago, my part of lefkosa has been off since 11.00pm last night and now my wife informs me it is still off and wont be on untill tomorrow at the earliest, the fact that there are babies, infants, pregnant woman and the elderly let alone us mortals suffering in this heat seems irrelevant to mr kibtek and the Government of today and yesteryear. they are supposed to be celebrating the Ottoman rule, the forming of the GKK and TMT today, some of whome died to give us a life, they will all turning in their graves at the way the Government and its offices are looking after its citizens and guests.

Izzet,

what really winds me up is the expats who say things like "ah bless, they are such a new country", well common sense is alot older than the TRNC.

I guess until the situation improves, best to buy a Genny or even hire one for the duration of your visit. I think power cuts are a way of life in TRNC at the moment. Sorry if this sounds negative.......but !!

Hi Davidoff,

Apparently the two new generator/power stations that they bought as new from Finland are infact second hand engines from some decommisioned cruise liners. woops! back to square one.

So how big does a generator have to be and how much do they cost, and where from?.

Also are they easy to connect and disconnect if you were to hire one?

Any ideas greatfully received but don't get too technical. I don't do tech.

Depends what ya want to run off it, they are easy to connect and can be purchased from the generator shop in Girne or cheaper in Lefkosa.

thats as technical as it gets
