From what I gather there are far fewer power cuts than in the past - is the voltage / amperage or whatever more stable?

The reason I ask is that I only have surge protectors on the notebook computer when I come over and am not sure if I need more to protect it (and the mobile chargers).

Has some one more electical technical any thoughts? Ismet?

Not sure tom. I have surge protectors connected to the extension leads for my computers and the TV stuff downstairs. Were only something like £6 from aldi. Seem to do the job.

Had a powercut in lapta earlier, don't know if it was due to the thunderstorm we were having at the time but was bloody annoying none the less, my dinner was in the oven, half way thru cooking at the time ;-)

Hi John msg 6 - Way back when we used to have powercuts at least two days in three (sometimes more than three a day) - then it got better and a few years ago went back to about the same level if not slightly worse. Now across the island there are far fewer cuts - on the last three visits they were nearly all for planned maintenance but this is not answering my question.

Tom,

What can I say? I would certainly recommend one of my Elko Voltage Protectors. You simply plug it into any spare socket and if there is a serious fault in the system it will trip off your supply, otherwise you may have all your appliances burn out wholesale.

Ismet Msg 8 - Are they still needed as the supply seems to be more "stable*" than in the past or is there something I am missing? *Not going off.

tom, I'm not sure how to answer msg9 but generally when power comes back on you can get a a 'fluctuation' in the power which could blow sensitive equipment. (Especially so if it's a backup generator starting up.)

Been out for a while now this year and 'touch wood' not had many powercuts here in Lapta.
