It's more important to know how many of the people you are likely to call will be on the same network...

Nearly everyone we know uses TurkCell... although for 3G some like TelSim

How about a poll?

Then you can gauge popularity....

I vote for TurkCell

I have Turkcell and my girly has Telsim.

With Telsim, at least you can stand outside Ikea and call Girne - you can't with Turkcell!

My Telsim mobile costs 69TL per month plus a couple of lire standing charge. This covers 500 minutes of calls within the TRNC to other Telsim phones, Turkcell and landlines. I believe they also do 250 minute packages for about 45TL.

Telsim as their packages cover all networks and even my UK mobile as I don't have a landline number here! I also use Telsim for my 3G computer connection as I found it much cheaper and much faster than Turkcell but I think that depends largely on area.

The problem with either is that they don't include free texts in any package - we tried one of the FREE calls for £X packages and it ended up costing us more because of the texts we sent!!

Without a shadow of a doubt, Telsim!

Telsim, a far better service and much cheaper. I've been ripped off by Turkcell too many times!

We do have a landline but for over 1 year it has been out of order. So now use the mobile more.

Turkcell for me. I have a contract, but not a package. Do you really save with a package? My number of calls varies so much from month to month. Total spend per month on average is 30 TL & maximum ever 60 TL.

However, we have just discovered that with VOIPWISE you also get free calls to Turkish landlines, which includes TRNC as well as free UK. calls to landlines & the cost of calls to Telsim mobiles is 11p per minute which is half the price of ringing on the mobile Turkcell mobile st 50 kurus per min. We did use VOIPSTUNT before, but no free calls to Turkey. Minimum upfront payment with VOIPWISE is €10.

So if we are at home, from now on, we will ring Telsim & local landlines through VOIPWISE.

That is exactly how I feel with Turkcell at the moment.... and a lot of people I know seem to be moving to Telsim.

There 69tl 500mins package seems to be the most popular

Beachsidebum I know Telsim works in Tatlisu really well so it should be OK in Esentepe.

St George,

If you are pay as you go with Telsim and load up 200 credits, text the words 'her gun' to 8585 and you will get 5000 free text messages anywhere in the world.

The following questions are the ones you need to ask:

1/ Where will I use the phone most - what is the coverage like in those places - no pint having a better package if the phone doesn't work !

2/ Who do you call the most - is it cheaper to be on the same network ?

3/ Deals that fit your calling needs
