We hope to complete on our villa next month - We will, of course, be taking personal items with us and we understand that electrical items such as toasters and kettles are expensive in NC - What else should we bring with us?? Someone else told us, for example, that dishwasher tablets are also expensive. Any other suggestions please.

Greatly appreciated - Jackie

hi jakki , i have'nt been there since may and i would have said buy all here and support the local economy , but reading all the posts discussing and imparting their own personal experience on the current economical climate , i think it is very much a personal preference now , i'm one of the lucky ones i bought all ours there , but that was some years ago before prices shot up

good luck , simbas

I understand an electric blanket is handy for the colder nights in the winter!

Electric blanket, hot water bottles and warm slippers are essential for the winter months.

jakki,

Please tell us if you are brining a container or buying stuff here.

Electrical things are really not that expensive. If you are looking for Western branded goods then they are but buy Turkish brands, which are usually rebranded then no problem.

If you are brining a container then bring everything!!!!! Most of us that tried to reduce load now wish we had brough this or that. So just fill it up.

I agree with CIH, doesn't matter if you don't need it, bring it anyway. You can always sell it at the auctions.

And when they say bring everything, they mean everything, including curtains, curtain rails, bedding, lightbulbs, electrical surge protectors. Will save you a fortune.

Thanks everyone for your advice - No, we're not bringing over a container just suit cases and when we return some time in October my son and girlfriend will also have to assist!! We will always try to support the local community as we will be buying furntiure, beds etc. in NC and will only try and eat at 'Turkish Cypriot' restaurants, I mean what's the point in eating British food when abroad. I don't think that Cadbury's creme eggs are in the shops yet, they normally arrive on Boxing Day!! It must be a record saw Christmas cards for sale last week!!
