A huge "thank you" to the gentleman known to you on the forum as "Big Oz" as we feel that without his help ( and that of Marion Stokes) we would be in a quandary. We recently had our PTP refused for a very odd reason and Ozer translated our initial appeal (not in court but at the Minister's office) into beautifully correct and polite Turkish and hey presto we now have our PTP ! Would recommend him most highly to anyone needing a very good translator.....he also teaches Turkish at his home and is a good teacher. Thanks again, Ozer, your help was invaluable !!!

Might I be so bold as to ask what the "very odd reason" was? If a bit of 'Sweet Talking' overcame the problem, perhaps it could work for others!

We were told that it was because we sold our first house and bought another ( and thus making a profit as we bought our first house 10 years ago when property was very cheap) We did point out that the house we bought originally as a holiday home did not meet our needs when we moved here full time with 2 large dogs ! I do not know if this will be of help to anyone else but hope it does .

Thank you swyflot! The lesson the others should learn from this is: Do not depend on any local solicitor to chase things up for you just because you do not speak the language! They write a letter or two and get on with their other daily duties. Norhing might happen for 6 months or a year if you leave it up to them. So chase your own cause and do not expect any miracles from solicitors! swyflot; you should thank your husband more than anyone else for his resilience and strong headedness. He pursued his rights all the way - well done S may you enjoy many happy years in your own home in Cyprus...
