For a few days now he has been putting him front paws onto my bed when I wake up and dragging half his body onto the bed to give me a cuddle (in his own way). This morning (Monday) he did the same, because I was still half asleep he was cheeky and got all four legs up on the bed. I couldn't be bothered telling him to get down so used him as a pillow ;-) Made a nice hot water bottle substitute anyway. Hehehehehhe (Smelly one though)

I was supposed to go along and give him dog training with Willy and Lena but we both fell asleep and missed it. Oh well. The training I have been giving him myself is coming along well. He will sit, stay, leave amongst other things. Getting him to heel is a bit hard though. He will be obedient just from facial expressions and simple hand commands as well now.

He's got a girlfriend by the way.

He also has a nickname, wobbly bum.

Let's hope the girlfriend is the same species and has been done!

Well done Mike, most people don't keep up the training. I must admit our two are pretty good but walking to heel is not going to happen with them...oh well, they are good with most things.

Mike.

I am pleased all is going well . However do go to the dog training classes it will help you be consistant with the effes, he sounds like he can play you up a bit, that is good in some ways as it shows spirit howeve,r Mike should be the boss as long as it is in a nice way.

It is great to hear you are keeping effes. Well done, if you need anything for effes from the UK just ask !!

Pipie, he is. The pic of him on the step was taken a few mins before I posted them. He had been for a patrol of the garden (watched him do it on the CCTV ;-), checked on my mum, came and checked on me and then sat down on the top step to my computer room, on guard.

what a handsome chappie....reading through the postings I gather he was a stray. Seems it was a good day all round when you two were introduced..........Wishing you many happy walks and tail wags together............

Thanks shrimp, I'm reluctant to take him for walks now though with him being poisoned twice. Good job we have quite a big garden for him to race around. ;-) I've been trying to get him a muzzle so I can take him out safely but I haven't found one the right size yet :(

Lapta Mike.

The type that has good reports is a basket type muzzle . GOOGLE IT and see what you think . Very effective on one of our family dogs . Hope this helps .

Ah, he's lovely. A real credit to you. Have you tried Sibel for a muzzle? The new place is behind the Starling in Ozankoy. If she hasn't got any in then she might be able to order one for you.

bootisme, I haven't. To be honest I don't know east of Girne at all. Thx anyway.

Pipie, I read on here somewhere that the basket type ones allow dogs to still lick and sniff things so no good against the poison they tend to use out here (Lanate)

Lilli, no probs love, did you get round to trying that stew? If not I suggest defrosting it first and then gently tip it intp a pan and add a little stock, stir VERY gently from time to time, the blackpudd (my own) is quite delicate.

Mike .

The basket type we have got it allows dogs to sniff but def not lick as the grids on the basket type makes it impossible to pop the tongue through.

I'll keep trying to get him one, he seems fairly content as it is so there is no real rush. He gets plenty of exercise from running from playing in the garden and he gets a change of scenery because he goes everywhere with me in the car. (When we're nearly home though he tends to rest his head on my shoulder and give me a lick of the ear or face ;-)

I would love to know what happened to him in the first 4 months of his life before he came to us. He had a nasty limp, he is terrified of cars and lorries (so maybe he got knocked over), he's terriified of turkish men (so possibly beaten). That still doesn't stop him having a go though if he thinks anyone is too close to our property ;-)

I'm sure he would Pipie, when he pulled me down the steps, doing my knee in (sure it was an accident) he lay next to me to keep me warm until I was able to get up.

Wondering whether to write a book 'One Man And His Dog In Cyprus' ;-)

I was talking to a mate the other day when she was round, he doesn't seem to mind 'white' people. Hates turkish men and absolutely detests our gardener (Algerian but so tanned he looks almost black) I'm sure Efes is a racist ;-)

Mike you have a star within Efes. Its a year now i lost my bag of bones Max, whom i loved with my heart and soul. They are the most beautiful race for loyalty, faithful to a fauth, boisterous of course. seeing the difference in your lovely dog was remarkable. My bloody dogs pull me over unintentionelly, I'm battered and bruised all over. Last Friday I actually thought i was having a heart attack. (i have had so many bad things going on in the last 4 weeks), the three sat on me, worried. I would never want to give that loving up x you have done a great job.tomorrow i will have your stew and i really look forward to it. thank you so much xxxxxxxx

thanks lilli, he is such a beatiful and caring thing. I love him to bits, even with his little times of being naughty. Gave him a home made chicken kiev stuffed with herby smoked cheese for lunch and dauphinoise potatoes. He loved it.

To get Efes to walk to heel,do the following.

Fit with an ordinary collar

Use a shortish lead.

Between the the end of the lead and the collar, attach a 15 inch length of light chain, two clips required.

When walking keep the lead in your right hand, with the lead in front of you hold the rest of the lead loose in your left hand, the weight of the chain should cause the lead to droop,if you feel the lead getting tight, flip the lead towards the dog, calling out heel at the same time.the noise of the metal chain and the slight contact, will get the dog to stop pulling and after a short time he will walk to heel
