When I looked at it a few years back you have to hold a KKTC Kimlik to be able to play for the first teams, not sure if this is still correct or not though.

Hi mate,

If I'm not mistaken there only allowed 2 non kktc kimliks in the team. The reason for African is cos they pay them around £400 per month and most British young players would not move from uk for that and it's rare for there to be British pro's here. I played here and in the uk I played semi pro. I'm a kimlik holder. I can speak to ozankoy football club get you to train there if your any good I know the chairman well. The standard here is not great but they are very fit. If your interested leave your number and I'll give you a call.

It may be helpful if you have a chat with Oz at the Cine Miles cafe/restaurant in Girne. He is very affable, and fluent in Turkish and English. His father was born Cypriot and his mother English. He has played for clubs here and will be able to advise which ones only pay agreed salaries as and when they feel like paying ! He has also played in the South but experienced attempts to bully and humiliate him ie unpaid kit man for the GC players. His younger brother Serhan is also a very good player who often trains with and plays for junior teams at Fenerbahce in Turkey.
