When we were over last time we bought 2 bottles of the above named brandy which I really enjoyed and I wondered if anyone knows if it can be obtained in the UK and if so where.

antique brandy as I remember is a cheap one while you will rarely see anything in the uk "made in north cyprus" but as mr natural used to say: "whatever's right?" there are two issues with north cyprus brandy: firstly some are clumsily flavoured it seems, with anis or liquorice etc, which I really don't like, though not your one... secondly the quality is not that brilliant even for a couple of quid though good enough for a "sour" but I wonder if they make a smoother one ...if you ever go to south africa, "oudermeister" is first rate! north cyprus drink stores also sell trnc-bottled british gin whiskey and vodka but again the quality is only so-so if you are looking for gin for the old g&t I heartily recommend "istanbul gin" red label, it is less than 9ytl and as good as any I ever tasted, very refined: anybody else tried it?

If you want to taste good quality brandy that is made in Cyprus, you must try '31'.Unfortunately it is made by our Greek neighbours, and it is double the price in the north as opposed to south. Well recommended with fresh apple juice.

keo also make a passable brandy in the south but I prefer to buy local the strong suspicion is that the north cyprus labels are all made from the same feedstock my local farmer/restauranteur sells us stunning goats milk from his pedigree herd, but you have to be there at 7am before the truck arrives

I too prefer to buy local, mainly '81' which also reflects to my background. However,I cant help but remember having to stuck up my dads empty '31' bottles on a permanent scuffhold (isgalosha) that we had at home in Lefkosa. 'pedigree herd'???
