This morning I've had 3 emails - all with the same subject "Fw: Remembrance - Don't Break This - Without Apology" Well. I'm 'sorry' - NOT - this is pure spam Some us us provide our email address as a courtesy to help others - not to be 'bombarded' with the same subject - from the same person - THREE TIMES.. Not only is it bad manners, the person lists ALL the email addresses they are sending to, by using the cc function - rather than the bcc ( blind copy) function. If you wish to promote a worthy cause - post it on here - but please don't send it to all my email addresses, as the opposite effect desired will be the end result ..and the sender will go on to 'spammer mode' and will be effectively blocked...if they do it again :(

WE ALL get spam. Why not just deal with it in the normal way? Do you feel better for a public rant? Do you enjoy the attention? Just a few thoughts

Mark Why not address your concerns with the original sender? For someone that purports to be IT savvy I for one think that you are being a little bit too sensitive. AJ

There is a valuable point to be gleened from Mark's post and that is if you are emailing a lot of people who may or may not know each other and who may or may not have safe computers, then use Bcc not Cc. Harold

re msg 2 >>WE ALL get spam. << NOt normally from people we know >>Why not just deal with it in the normal way?<< *Because* this is from someone many of us know >>Do you feel better for a public rant? << If my 'rant' results in a future benefit to members.. YES ! >>Do you enjoy the attention? << I think the Q is best addressed to yourself.. *I* had a point !....... >>Just a few thoughts << Noted and filed appropriately ;) rem msg 3 >>Why not address your concerns with the original sender? For someone that purports to be IT savvy I for one think that you are being a little bit too sensitive. << AJ, what has my IT knowledge got to do with making a public request ? Something that might benefit many ? OF COURSE I could simply block the sender, but I want them - and others to THINK before 'spamming'... I'm sure you'd agree that posting on here seems to get a better response.. is that why YOU ask folk to take a 'beef' to email ? ;)

Mark You have obviously addressed the problem posed by yourself in an earlier thread http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/49342.asp So why do you need to continue? Are you trying to spam this board?

re msg 9 AJ The thread you mention refers to a 'spammer' to whom I was giving the benfit of the doubt - as I HOPED it was a Trojan - and not a concious act - can you see the difference ? ;) re msg 8 YeniBob >>I had difficulty with your post as it is only just in English<< Oh I THINK you know what I'm saying; ) But JUST in case *'s surrounding a word is emphasising - instead of using upper-case.. and >> << separates your quotes from my response.. re msg 10 YeniBob >>It would appear that the originator of this thread has nothing to say, but is determined to say something. Sad!<< It would appear that having said what *I* wanted to say - you are determined to 'derail' the whole point of the thread - at least you *may* have learnt something new today ( re. syntax) as a result... You are welcome to start your own 'sad' thread ;)

Mark, first of all apologies for the slur on your use of the English language. As someone who has English as a second language your use is a little above average. I would still like to know why you decided this was the correct medium to address messages from someone you know? Would love to know why you use so many symbols? Is it an Erse thing?

Honestly, I'm not sure if you *are* apologising or 'witty' ;) Sorry.. did you think I know / speak / write Irish :D ? |

I was hoping for clarification Mark, but only got obscuration. Probably best to leave it today and try again tomorrow when you are not "under the weather". I am surprised to learn you have English as a first language, you are allowed to sue failing schools now, even if the "failing" was a long time ago. Anyway, I know you haven't been on the Island for a while so are well out of date, but your opinions still have an amusement factor Going out into the warm Cyprus Evening now, so "later".

A perfect description of mmmmmm In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

re 19 "five new pence" >>I was hoping for clarification Mark, but only got obscuration<< You got precise answers - even though I was aware of the probable lack of genuine interest . My health is improving - thanks ;) >>Anyway, I know you haven't been on the Island for a while so are well out of date<< For sure - seeing with one's own eyes is the 'ultimate', but can you be 'precise' as to how my absence has 'dulled' my reasoning ? ;) >>your opinions still have an amusement factor<< I haven't seen anything from you to 'stretch' me, yet... but I'm glad you can take your leave with a delusional sense of 'achievement ;D Perhaps, now, posters can discuss SPAM ? !

re msg 26 >>Am I worrying you Mark?<< No.. I'm 'worried' that my 'amusement factor' may cause you 'indigestion' as you wolf down your tinned chicken and distract you from your plans to enjoy the "warm evening" ... happy to 'indulge' you, if you have anything meaningful to contribute on this thread.... ;)

Quarmby, mmmmmm has continually belittled all and sundry in North Cyprus for many and various reasons, when he resided in the RoC I felt many of his comments were relevant and of interest especially as it gave us a further perspective, now he is based in the UK he is not in touch with those that reside here, on either side. You can believe his stuff if you wish, I don't wish to, and don't believe the bulk of it, he does have some good points though ( DOPI)

Personally i dont and could never feel belittled by any1. There is no 1 above me in this life. We are all the same. To feel belittled i think a person must be a little insecure in themself. Just my opinion, for whats its worth!

Dear Pugwash re 31 Could you give me a specific example of how my moving from Cyprus has 1/ changed my attitude 2/ made my posts re the CY prob any less 'valid'... Lastly, I also keep reminding you that THIS thread is about those members who send unsolicited emails to other members - without caring about privacy of email addresses or thinking they might not be 'wanted' I do KEEP telling you I reserve 'belittling' to those that deserve it ;)
