Does anyone know if you can have your blood tests for Residency done at the local Girne State Hospital? If so how did you get on?

Yes you can have them done at the state hospital but be prepared for long queues and chaos. Unless you are able to converse in Turkish it is a nightmare trying to go through the procedure.

We were told by the police to use a private one as they are cheaper than the state one.

Believe the charge at the state hospital is 10tl so compared with what the private clinics charge it is not cheaper to use a private clinic.

Is it just the blood test or do they do the skin test for TB as well? Our friends had both done for their residency application (not their first one) but looking at this it seems it is just the blood test. Once you know the system at Girne state hospital (turn up early and be prepared to use your elbows ) it's not too bad and the results are back around 2pm the same day.

Does anyone know if you can you get your blood tests done before visiting the police station and then take them in? Would save a double queuing

Does the blood test result have to accompany the rest of the paperwork for residency, when visiting Girne Police Station?

Some days they let you pick up a slip for the blood test at the Police Station without queuing, other days won't. Worth asking. When you get the slip you give this to the lab, who also take a copy of your passport page with your details on it, so take an extra copy. The Lab gives you a receipt at the point and you pick up the results in a sealed envelope a few days later. You take the RECEIPT to the police station along with your other papers, and queue again. You keep the RESULTS, still sealed, to take to Immigration in Lefkoşa approx three weeks later.

'artistabroad' is absolutely correct with the information listed in message 12.

We made the the mistake of waiting until we got the blood test result, thinking that the Girne police immigration man needed both the result and the receipt. Only the receipt is required by Girne police station, and you cannot submit all your other photocopies of the various documents unless you produce the blood test receipt at the same time.

The result, in a sealed envelope, must be retained by you until you go to Lefkosa Immigration and handed in there.

Why only foreigners under sixty years of age are deemed to be potentially contagious is beyond all logical reasoning. If this isn't blatant racism, what is? Is it not the 'locals' who mainly patronise the dozens of, euphemistically termed, 'night clubs'?

So, according to government thinking, I can only assume that I am totally impotent and that my wife has suddenly, after five years residency, suddenly started 'bed-hopping' - charming!
