I was leaving the tax office in Girne today at around 2pm, proceeded to my car which was parked in the car park, to find a silver saloon car parked so close that I could not even get into my car. After struggling to enter my car from the passenger side I started my engine. At this point the owner of the silver saloon arrived jumped into his car and ignorantly proceeded to reverse out at the same time as me !!

At this point my rear bumper very slightly scuffed his passenger side rear door. This chap who I assume must have been around 60 years of age jumped out of his car waving his fists about towards me growling like a dog & giving me abuse and saying something about me not parking properly.

At this stage I got out of my car & asked him what his problem was, again he was waving his fists at me then proceeded to the rear of my car lifted his fist up with the intention of damaging my car !! His wife then called him to get in the car and they both drove off...

I have always been brought up to respect people older than me and in my book you never hit an old man, but im sorry to say today I was very tempted.

I have posted this in the hope that these people are members of the forum, and that maybe he can explain the reason why he has behaved like such a "yob"....

I used to carry stickers with a picture of Mickey Mouse waiving a V sign and saying "next time leave me a f***ing can opener so I can get in my car!" Make sure it has high tack glue so it doesn't come off their windscreen too easily! Maybe childish but very satisfying.

He was probably just told by his advocate that he has been refused 'permission to purchase'.

I think the Buddhist say (or maybe confucious) that if a man is angry then he is in pain.

Am also reminded of a Steven Covey story. He was riding on a subway and he was being annoyed by these kids. He kept on saying to himself, why doesn't the father do something to stop these kids rioting. Eventually Covey turned to the man and said. 'Look, cant you do something about your kids'. The father, who looked pale and mute said 'I am so sorry I should be doing something. I think we really don't know how to act right now. We have just been told that their mother has died from cancer"

Stonehouse, that is terrible behaviour by someone who is old enough to know better. You should have had a go back at him mate.

He won't respond on here, that's for sure. Perhaps next time he'll pick on the wrong person and get a slap.

Stonehousepub, while I totally understand the upsetting situation you found yourself in, why did you not sort it then and there? All your posting has done is bring out nasty aggressive comments from people who should know better. What's the point of pursueing it? Whoever this person is/was they are notgoing to comment on here. Threat should be closed, bringing the worst out in people IMHO

Natalie,

As you say this person may not even comment or may not even be a forum member. Like i've said before I would not even consider hitting a man my fathers age, it was out of respect for his age that the situation did not escalate.

I have explained the reason why I have posted this thread and obviously if there is no response in the next couple of days then no problem.

He may want to apologise, or he may need my insurance details or he may just explain why he behaved like such a animal...

I am not upset just confused & slightly amused

Stonehousepub, I understand, but you know what this forum is like, a thread like this just leaves it wide open for the morans to start a slanging match, crusifying before thinking. Most of them are like a lynch mob and are the 'real' YOBS!

stonehouse, I hope the culprit reads your original post and says sorry. We're not all animals mate Some of the expat/holiday drivers get on my wick at times, thinking they own the road. As an expat I at least try to be compassionate to other drivers.
