Thanks for the namecheck. Over 20-odd years I've come into contact with many cases of child sex abuse and I know something of the subject and offender profiles. What I can say from observation is that many of the BB members here would probably come from similar social and educational backgrounds - perhaps even you. No, these people are revealing themselves as ignorant and easily manipulated by the tabloid comics they rely on to feed their narrow minds and prejudices. Most child sex abuse happens in the home and is committed by male relatives of a similar social and educational background as the lynch mob on this BB. Perhaps they should be paying closer attention to what may be happening to their own grandchildren, than a tabloid witchunt on a sad old perv who got caught and did his time.

I never read tabloid 'comics' as you call them - my influence is the BBC.



Recent convictions for downloading child porn, having sickening images of abused children on their computers have included judges, teachers, senior police officers and the like - what kind of social & educational background do you think they come from?

Yes I agree with you about MOST abuse happening in the home by relatives/friends known to the family and we should all be aware of this but we also need to be informed if the likes of Gary Glitter is a danger and the tabloids/broadsheets BBC etc do a valuable job of keeping us informed.

Sometimes I agree with what you post and sometimes I don't....what you very often do is provide a balance to opinions which in this instance are being fuelled through tabloid generated hysteria ( It sells newspapers !!)



However GC is a good target for them and the current campaign to fight sexual abuse as he is high profile, but the bigger risk our society faces is not now from him but the low life perverts that are being relocated within our society after their prison sentence. They can very quickly become anonymous and through time some will again be very dangerous so lets hope if nothing else that once GC's plight becomes yesterdays news the focus remains on these animals.

You are right in one respect, though. I'm not a member of the lynch mob. If I heard someone threatening another with being strung up or castrated and I was on duty then I'd warn them, and if they persisted then I'd arrest them for BoP. Whenever anything high profile happens you always get the same baying mob screaming for revenge. For every officer detailed to control these low-life scum at court, somebody somewhere is losing frontline policing. Who's looking out for the kiddie fiddlers then?

I work in the media and it's a constant source of amusement at just how easily manipulated some people are. They need a hate figure because they are primitive and gullible in nature.
