The box is the cheap bit, they are sometimes in the Lambousa auctions, or about £20 on Ebay.

Just search for 'sky' in the search box at the top, or click 'satellite' in the popular tags plenty will come up.

TopTen,

I think it very much depends on how addicted to UK TV/football etc you are...

You can go from 24/7 all-singing, all-dancing SKY systems to systems with a good spread of programmes.

Bearing in mind that it is now possible to download and watch most of the BBC's output via either BBC iPlayer or torrent sites... You should compare subscription systems like DigiTurk with the others... only you will know what blend of programmes will float your boat... good luck, it's a minefield out there.

Dear Tonni - you 'only' need a big dish to get the BBC channels BBC1-3 and five live.. a 1.8m will get you most SKY channels and ITV HD, 4HD.... SKY Sprts HD, Movies HD..

If you can't have (even) a 1.8m for SKY / ITV then look at asking a nice person on the board to get you a AbuDhabi TV receiver from Carrefour or Geant in the middle east... sport movies on HD.

It will work on one of the dishes you use for Dopi.. but if you rely on a good signal in the winter rains I get a 1m one

I am living full time in the TRNC so it is difficult to get Sky box and card, apparently you have to bring them over from the UK is this true?

Watcha Ken We are also looking at changing our system so many repeats ! we have spoken to Iceman (Mustafa) who tells us a 1.8 dish (needs a 1m concrete base) will receive most sky channels but NOT BBC 1 / 2 etc but most others ! to do this you need a Sky box preferably a Pace 2600Ci which has a more sensitive tuner for this area which can be bought from EBay (used) but make sure it has ALL updates otherwise useless ! you also need a UK address to enable you to obtain a basic Sky Sub card !!! regards Barry

Top ten... you have a 'friend' not so far away up the A46 ;)

I have a 2600 - working - but scratched - for 50 notes - much cheaper that ebay - but would remind folks that a HD receiver is 'better' as you get HD channels and can record stuff that is on too late - you cab subscribe to the 20GBP / monthly pack and still get ITV HD
