I am told a small shop in Girne is selling look-alike vases to the £43M one in Pinner!

The auctioneer-owner of the saleroom concerned was more used to hammer prices of around £100-£500. Very small outfit that none of the big boys had heard of. But he knew instantly that the vase was truly unique so I guess he 'urned' that commission !

Happy days indeed !

I'm amazed that after all those years there was no damage to it.

Reminds me of a joke I heard when I stated work in '56 ..

A man cleaning out his attic finds a picture .. Tells his mate I've found a small Rembrandt ..

Thats got to be worth something his mate says .. So off they go to the antique shop ..

What will you give us for this .. The antique dealer shouts upstairs ..

Charlie how many Rembrants have you .. 15 was the reply .. Sorry no deal ..

Later he finds a Ming vase .. Same thing off to the shop with his mate ..

Charlie how many Mings have you up there .. 25 was Charlies answer .. Sorry no deal ..

Some time later walking round the fairground with his mate they stop at the coconut shy ..

After paying for 5 balls, his mate slips 2 into his pocket ..

Come on we are off back to the antique shop ..

How much will you give us for this .. What is it the dealer asked ..

It's one of the balls off the original Wooden Horse of Troy ..

Before you shout upstairs to Charlie .. The other one is in my pocket ..
