a long and thought-provoking article in the latest hurriyet online: with the cyprus talks in new york having a greater chance of failing than succeeding, and any prospect for turkey joining the eu disappearing, due to the largely unfavourable recent report, criticisms over cyrus ...and five chapters still blocked by france, which does not want turkey in the eu at all, the one single point of leverage the eu holds, the propect of membership, is gone this will become a major problem for the greek cypriots, since turkey will no longer need to keep one eye on the eu and can do what it wants and yet, argues the writer, for some unacountable reason the greek cypriots fail to appreciate the reverse this situation will represent for them

andre_514 let's try again.. are you paying attention ?.......................................................... Even if TR can't / won't join the EU, it is STILL liable for settling the property cases and supporting The best solution for TR is some sort of compromise - the 'smart' GC politicians know that as long as the UN Security Council Resolutions re the 'TRNC' 'invalidity' are in place - and they WILL remain unless China / Russia are happy there is a settlement - then the northern sector of Cyprus is going to be a VERY expensive drain on resources.. What is the unaccountable reason you fail to 'get' this ? ;)

Andre If you get the chance, I would suggest you read the following document entitled 'The proposal of the correct YES' produced by the so called 'Movement for Freedom and Justice in Cyprus' It was produced in September 2009 and it makes interesting reading. It has an ISBN number which is 978-9963-9622-1-1. Oh and Mark you might find it interesting reading as well. AJ
