went there tonight for dinner.

Nice food,nice ambience,nice show.

If the english wish to visit this place i feel they need guidence on the menu,or they might come away disappointed.

I had guidence with the menu,so i knew what i was ordering.

All in all a very nice meal we had, food very nice, drinks mega cheap, but i meesed up my night by going to the urban bugg nite club within cratos hotel which is a shithole and if you do not mind paying 35tl for a vodka coke and white wine ok.but nothing else for your money other than a load of eastern european brass prancing around the gaff, titanic is better

zero thats nothing mate, I went to Cratos Jazz bar with a zillionaire mate 2 weeks ago and they charged us 500 euros for a bottle of Moet and we had two so the bill was 1000 euros..........!!!!!

I will be having words with Mehmet Ali and will be getting a free bottle next time we are in, if not I wont be taking any of my rich friends there again,

$220 million dollars... YHAFL... Cratos. please dont take the piss....

marcos.

I drank crystal in my heyday, but i paid for it what it was worth,i do not mind paying, but i draw the line at 20tl for a long thin glass with 5 ice cubes and some local alcohol flavour vodka spirit,if i had of been alone and not with my GF i would of made a real fuss, maybe that is a lame excuse, but my loss is all your gains, which makes me happy.

500 euros for a bottle of moet!

i hope it was a 1995 Moet & Chandon Champagne Cuvee Dom Perignon, then maybe it was worth it,just!

It really pisses me off that they think we can swallow these prices, i know the saying,if you dont like it,dont go ...but i do like it,but i just have no room in my pockets for my own bottle of vodka

The evening at the Barrel was very enjoyable, good food and company.

Then the dancers came on . That was fabulous, have a look at Zerochlors Vids.

I think they got a few pulses racing. Would love to see those girls again.

I would not use this bar as they do not want the English/Brits there.

They have a load of leaflets in Ileli supermarket - everyone one was written in Russian and Turkish. Not a single word or piece of information given in English.

It is clear we are not welcome there - so i will not be going.

Hildy I find that so strange. I know JonnyLees music quiz nights and karaoke nights are mainly Brits. The post the menu on here in English and advise us of forthcoming events. I think they certainly welcome clients of every nationality.

Dear HildySmith,

We are always happy to see English/British customers at our restaurant, in fact customers of any nationality.

The reason there was no flyers in English is that the marketing research we have made showed that the flyers are not so effective. That is why we have got big A-3 format posters in the supermarkets made Only in English.

Also we are advertising on Cyprus44, you can see our posts on the forum that keep all English speakers here informed and the banners that lead to our English website ( http://thebarrel.info/barrel/en/).

We are also advertising with one of the most popular newspapers in North Cyprus among the British community, CyprusStar, if you got a copy of this week's paper, you can see our advert on the inner pages and a write-up about The Russian Week at The Barrel on the first page.

Obviously we have got special events, like karaoke and quiz nights in English with Lee. And everyone knows about them and we have got many English/British people

So, we can not accept the false accusation of us not wanting the English/Brits there, just by viewing one flyer that was made in another language.

We are hoping to see you amongst us one night so that you would see how hard we are trying to get clients of all nations!

the flyer was in 2 languages not one - Russin and Turkish.

How many of us have been to places like Majorca and walked down the road and seen boards with only German and English.

I once went into one of these and got told the menu was only in German and Spanish (Clearnly they did not want us there) - so i told him to transate for me and I made sure that he had to work for his custom - the meal I got was excellent far better than the ones who were advertising in English I might add!!!!

Message 7, you are so wrong, probably one of the most untrue posts I have ever read.

I think you should talk to to the 1000s of mainly Brits who went through the doors at the Roof Bar in summer.

Also the ones who still come now, In fact on the whole I would say that Elvina and Alex and the staff have tried mainly to cater for us .

What you have posted is very bad and utter nonsense.

Loose Boots, I know what you mean, our main course was minus trimmings, but we had ordered separate side dishes,

I think this was a misunderstanding in the culture, Jan and I had been to a party the week before, and there was so much food, .

But the food we had on Sat,was excellent.

I f the dancers are coming back, You must see them, they are amazing. Book me in please for those nights. But i must make sure I wear a jacket. (people who where there will understand that one).

Zerochlor, once again the Vids. are very good. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to do this.

Oh Dave, (hope you got permission, and didn,t infringe any copyrights) How dare you! (just alitlle joke between ourselves)

Because Dave was a nuaghty boy and filmed a venue a few weeks ago .On his camera, in his own time. and then did a very generous thing.

HildySmith,

And English advertisements on this forum, in Cyprus Star, on our board outside, the big A-3 posters in the markets that are all only in English are made for the Turkish and Russian audiences too you would suggest?

Message 20 , I would do it. But People would have to chuck a good few Lira into Ismails Cancer fund!

The girl in the sack would have fun trying to take that off !

Message 26, You really are so completley wrong, just speak to the mainly ExPats who have supported the Roof and the Barrel.

I feel you need to admit you are wrong, then meet the managment and maybe an apology would be in order.
