Extend Broadband has been inconsistent over the last few days but this morning, Sunday 14th November, it has become almost unusable. Is it just me, because if so I'll check out the router etc.?

aaah, so it's all over North Cyprus. Solar flares, that's a new one, they'll be directed just at the north I suppose. Funny how the problems happens at night as well, but that'll be lunar flares I suppose

Always seems to happen to me on Saturdays when I am seeking the football results. Is that a coincidence or are the ISPs meddling with their systems ?

OK, folks.. try to keep a diary of the problems - you might see a pattern - emerge...

example: *IF* it is at peak usage times - then the ISP hasn't invested as it's client base grew

Will also depend *what* people are using too.

For example if many many households were all on VOIP or down loading porn at the same time it will use far more bandwidth that all just generally surfing or facebooking.

As Marky Mark rightly says, the contention rate is a big factor at peak times, but more likely this will just slow all down.

If it's on/off, more likely other issues.

Hi Yrret

re msg 10

I would hope heavy usage of voIP wouldn't bring a network to a 'halt' ... downloading 'certain' video content - well that IS a MUCH heavier 'load' ;)

it's the difference between being connected and not connected, not fast and slow. I'm with Extend, how about others experiencing this problem? I'm trying to find out if it the North's internet backbone or particular ISPs

Interestingly, a person testing out my VPN was bemoaning the number of times it takes to connect with Extend, but on the mainland or TR it behaved PERFECTLY ...
