Excellent result, considering they where walloped 7-2 last season.I thought the three ex United lads had tremendous games.Dont know what Alex was thinking about, letting 19 year old Webber go,

Is this the decline of Chelski?

Bill, Chelsea have not been playing well for a few games now, but all the other contenders are having it a little harder this season. I think this is a hic-up rather than a decline. Don't worry it'll be a long time before they are playing Millwall

A 'reaction' to the dismissal of Wilkins ?

Haway the lads is a Sunderland saying - or should I say it is a North East saying.

Haway means 'come on/come along' and we used it as children with out mates when out playing.

Haway am ganan t the park. - come on I am going to the park

Haway man - Come on Man - is to hurry folks up.

Bit more bad news for my Chelski friends. Terry has lost his nerve and they can't find it. So he will be out for months.

Hi Tom, all ok here mate apart from the crap weather. Enjoy it? Couldn't believe it more like, we have played excellent against the top sides this season and apart from the mags game we are having a good season so far. I bet the atmosphere at the old mill was good. Hows Brenda getting on?

John and Kels.

Hendonite through and through - born in Amberley Street, just off Mowbray Road.

Went to Hudson Road School from 5 - 15.

Worked at Rediffusion on Mackie's corner.

Uncle Billy was Chairman of the SAFC in the 50's and Cousin Jack was Vice Chairman in 1973 when we won the cup.

Now the saying 'Whees keys is these keys' is DEFINATELY Newcastle - never hard it in Sunderland. Worked in Newcastle and Gateshead since 1989 and only every heard it there.

Mackem comes from the Shipyard industry. Sunderland was the largest shipbuilding town in the WORLD - FACT read it up. The people of Sunderland didn't only make (mak) the ships (mak em), it was also a sea faring town and large port so they also took (tak) the ships to sea (tak em), so we have a seafaring/shipbulding town whose people would

'makem and takem'.

Lived not far from Hillview - on Ryhope Road (Westholme Terrace - not on map) top of Spelterworks Road between Spelterworks corner and Garage.

Great house - still had the servants bell in the kitchen - we left that there when we re-vamped it.
