I was told today that ex pats cannot legally own a van or commercial vehicle. It has to be registered to a TC. Any one know if that is correct?

Deniiz1 I believe you are correct. My friend had a pick up truck and when he went to tax it, they refused, and told him he had to sell it. Rule bought in to stop people working without permit!! For Gods sake, my friend is 75 years old, and he used to collect his winter logs and other bits and pieces. Go and ask before you buy.

Thought you could own one of you had a work permit? It is possible however to have a pick up registered as a private use vehicle, our window cleaner used to have one, took a bit of friggin around changing the use etc, but he got there in the end.

We had a VW transporter. When we did the change of name, I was sent across to the Nicosia tax office & had to sign a paper confirming that we would not use it for commercial purposes. No problem after that.

We bought a Mitsubishi pick up into Cyprus 3 years ago and had to sign a disclaimer stateing that it wouldnt be used for work.At the same time we were told that no more commerciall veicles would be allowed in unless you had a work permit. So need to check with the Police I would think
