Talk of the Northern part of the island: "Expat Carl C-D. charged: "defrauding colleagues"" [ http://is.gd/hi9VB ]

P.S. I have edited the text and the picture (Dutch journalistic rule: accused people should not be recognisable on pics and their names should be shortened - Hans Doeleman)

But has he actually been "charged" yet" I know the article appears to say this but I wonder if he is just under remand?

Please read the article carefully.I know what the headlines say but the artile says the police officer said He has been charged with collecting money without authority from TRNC.HE DOES NOT say he has been charged with Defrauding colleagues of money .There is a difference. By the way all the best to Carl and his family. The people that know, know you did not defraud them.Best of luck Carl and see you soon mate

Here here, not heard of one person that has actually lost any investment.

Good luck Carl we will have a beer when these idiots let you go free.

Hans

As follydog says the article has a number of contradictions. Personally, I don't believe everything that is reported in the press - especially over here.

RE msg 6, gibbythehibby: (...) As follydog says the article has a number of contradictions. Personally, I don't believe everything that is reported in the press - especially over here. (...)

=> Indeed, you shouldn't believe everything reported in the press - unlike other people journalists make mistakes. But most of my (former) colleagues do their very best to write the truth, even in TRNC. Furthermore: in this thread I'm merely a messenger.

There is an old saying about journalists - why let the facts get in the way of a good story.

A retraction will be made in Saturdays paper, as Carl has not been charged with fraud.

To be fair the paper didn't say he had been charged with fraud so why would they make a retraction? He is in police custody until Monday according to the article, presumably whilst investigation and interviews continue and presumably will appear in court again then.

The best thing Carl's family could do is get off this damn forum.

They will get no help or assistance here, all the are doing is increasing the speculation and entertaining the bored masses.

mavro , that is not true .....they could arrange for a peacefull arrangement of people who may wish to light a candle at a venue that is not yet decided and thousands may turn up , the press coverage may set him free.

I do not know Carl and would not pass a judgement , but from this forum I gather he was a instrument in selling land/ property that he may not know of its legal owner ,this first mistake ok, next , please imform me of the original intention of taking other peoples money without an interest for himself

Could message 34 expand on what was said! This is the first message that has suggested that Carl has lost them money. Anyone else, or is this a misunderstanding.

Have Cyprus Today been forced not to print any more news on this, or is it no longer worth reporting ?
