After a forum member posted about expat vpn for free I thought what a good do,at my age 50.............. should have realised that if it's for nothing there's always a catch, went ok for a few days apart from the adverts but then decided to take over so I couldn't even access my home page.I tried to remove the software from computer to no avail, finished up having to do a restore to get rid of it,my advice, stick to my private network or the like,it costs £5 a month but at least your computer is safe.

if you downloaded Chrome too then that could have been the problem....my friend did and chrome seemed to take over the whole of her computer, even to the point that when she got rid of Chrome she could not then access the internet without it........

I have been using the free Tv and had not one problem with mine, maybe you are just unlucky...... my computer is safe I have very good virus etc..

re msg 2

Google chrome has been the default browser on any computer passing through my hands, and aside from an ( very) occasional "aw snap, chrome has crashed" ( where apon it sorts itself out ) I LOVE it's speed, and 'intelligent" browsing...( I just type in something without http://www. and it can find it....)

Love the translate feature.. helps me to read TR / GR stuff..

The 'problem' is almost certainly NOT the browser...

As had been pointed out this expat shield features free ads - FREE things normally come with a 'hit' :(

Been using expat shield with absolutely no problems for the past 2 weeks, after using the US version hotspot shield (from the same company) for the past 2 years or so - also with no problems.

My advise would be make up your own mind - but for me it is great and I will continue to use it.

I tried to download Expatshield and my computer warned me not to - called it malware and I got scared and stopped it.

Should I have continued?

Dear Sue,

as far as we know it just observes whee you are and where you surf and tries to push ads that might suit..

I did advise right from the start that I am VERY wary of why they needed an install prog for a VPN.. they make their money as they tell advertisers that they can effectively target you.

Like Mark, I've never had any browser problems since changing to Chrome.

Must be the best free software for years.

Keep it simple.

Not sure mate i don't do the NL so haven't tried.

Tootie - msg 8

I've never had any browser problems in IE and I find that lots of streaming programs work better in IE than chrome and other browsers - some don't work at all in other browsers.

I suppose it depends what you want it to do - at the end of the day it's each to their own and what suits you best.

You could try my OpenVPN server. PM me for access information.

I offer free OpenVPN certificates. You provide the client at the open-source locations for download. This means there is no chance for spyware, adware, etc. I don't care which OpenVPN client you use.

My VPN server is a 1Gbps port, huge bandwidth. 700 users are currently using less than 1% of my bandwidth. We are ad-supported on the website.

There is an instant signup page, so as soon as you pull up the website, you enter your email address and click a button to get access to the VPN.
